The thing I hate most about him is he uses basic statistics to evaluate teams. The Game has changed you have to use advanced metrics these days

Herb Jones' Offensive Development Could Be X-Factor for Crimson Tide Basketball

quote:

"I was just talking to Oats during the entire process, and he was telling me the pieces that were coming in,” Jones said as practices officially began earlier this month. “I just evaluated it and decided to come back and try to have a big year with the guys that were coming back with me and also guys that were new.
"The pieces that were coming in, I figured we would have a pretty good year.”

quote:

“My main focus has pretty much been on my jump shot,” Jones said. “I’m still trying to figure out my decision-making skills on and off the ball. My jump shot has improved drastically, so that’s pretty much been my main emphasis in the offseason.”

Way-too-early analysis: Bart Torvik has projected records based (mostly) on last year's schedule, and currently has Alabama 21-10 (11-7).

Can't wait for these systems to start updating their data for the coming season.

Florida 23-8 (13-5)
Tennessee 22-9 (12-6)
Kentucky 22-9 (12-6)
Alabama 21-10 (11-7)
Mississippi 20-11 (10-8)

Without knowing what our schedule looks like and knowing how high our expectations are, 21-10 sounds about right. Wouldn’t be good enough for an SEC title but a dang good season compared to what we usually do. That’s about what I expect.

At what point are we going to get a schedule?

We know 6 of the OOC games already. I’m guessing the last 3 will be buy games.

I’m wanting the conference schedule to see who the 2 extra teams we play twice are

We will have 27 games scheduled. I’m thinking 27-0.

Or an opening night loss to some sister of the poor to crash all optimism per usual.

Jaden Shackelford, Alabama: Much like Ralph Macchio in My Cousin Vinny, Shackelford was in the Witness Protection Program last season in Tuscaloosa. Not nearly enough attention was given to the 6-5 guard, who averaged 15 points and 4.5 rebounds as a freshman. If Alabama is an NCAA Tournament team in 2021, Shackelford and John Petty will be viewed as one of the top wing tandems in college basketball.

Do we think Shack grew two inches or do we think Rothstein is mistaken?

They’re gonna hand them out to the players in the locker room before our first game

Tomorrow marks exactly 2 weeks since Nate Oats said we’d know our schedule “in a week or two”. I know it’s harder this year to schedule but I feel like every year they give a timetable for when it’ll release and it’s NEVER accurate

Getting really concerned for basketball with Covid cases skyrocketing. Maybe the season starts with no fans in the stands? I just don’t want the season pushed back or worse.

The folks in charge don't know what they're doing. How can all of these soccer leagues be active, yet we can't figure it out?

Because the vast majority of ‘leaders’ in our country are scared of their own shadows.
