OK, to have a tournament, you must have teams chosen for said tournament. That is usually done via automatic bids to conference tournament winners and selection by committee for at-large teams. But in the former case, you have to have a conference tournament. YOU HAVE TO PLAY GAMES! Unless they are going to have some watered down version of the NCAA tourney with teams selected entirely by committee, you've got to have some games. So NCAA is in effect saying, we playin' hoops!

Wimp on wjox says he thinks bball will start in January, and will be in conference only. Both the Big 10 and the Pac12 said they will look at Bball in January. He is just guessing, though.

2020-21 roster has been updated. Also lists former grad assistant Donovan Kates moving into the Director of Video Services role previously held by Andrew Steele.

Also looks like Alex Reese may have blonde hair now.

I’m guessing 26 game conference only season in a bubble where you play everyone twice. Each conference will probably have multiple bubbles at one given time. Probably will take 1-2 week breaks between bubble pairings IMO.

Metrics and efficiency numbers are gonna be HUGE this season with no Non-conference to go off of.

Is there any program in America with more experience as a bubble team than @alabamambb?

I don't think so, he's the only one that doesn't have a picture on the roster page.

Incoming freshman Alex Tchikou is expected to join the team fairly soon, mentioning he should be in a Tuscaloosa by Monday at the latest, per his IG Live.

Sources: Several conferences in college basketball are viewing the window between the day after Thanksgiving and January 1st as a "golden opportunity" to get games played. This time frame would occur after most schools are done academically for the fall semester.

I think 70 in one place is too much. If I was doing it I would have all the preconference tournament teams (Like Maui, BFA, etc) Bubble up together and instead of playing a tournament you play every other team once.

For example: The 8 Maui teams would bubble together and play each other once giving each team 7 non conference games.

Top-15 Graduate Transfer for the 2020-21 Season.

quote:

6. Jordan Bruner, Yale – Alabama

Bruner was a super-steady player for Coach Jones at Yale, along with Paul Atkinson and Azar Swain, but now he’s in the SEC as an Ivy-League grad transfer. Bruner averaged 10 points, 9 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.7 blocks per game. He is definitely a Glue-Guy type he can do-it-all and is super important to Alabama’s success this season, he’ll be alongside Jahvon Quinerly, Jaden Shackelford, John Petty Jr, and Herb Jones, Bruner, in the starting-5, Bruner as the 5 man is the most likely scenario for the Tide.

70 have shown interest but I THINK I read where they only want 20 teams in Houston. I’m guessing we’d probably have a bubble in Atlanta or something.

Three Man Weave #21 Alabama 2020-21 Preview

quote:

Bottom Line: It’s weird to project a team to improve after losing its undisputed best player from a season ago, but that’s what we should expect from Alabama this year. Oats has countless morphable bodies on the wing to be one of the most athletic teams in the country and a bolstered frontcourt with the additions of Bruner, Tchikou, Rojas, Ambrose-Hylton, and Gary. Degree of success will ultimately rest on Quinerly’s shoulders. If he can even mostly live up to his pre-college hype, Alabama will be a dangerous team in the SEC and a contender for a top 5 seed in the Dance.
