Because we didn’t have any coaches get arrested like Okie State, Auburn, or Arizona and don’t have any coaches on wiretap talking about paying players like LSU and Kansas.

What we were accused of was much less than these other schools. Expecting us to get a big punishment like those schools is stupid.

Dan Wolken had a big article the other day about b-ball schools facing sanctions and we weren’t even mentioned.

That’s nice, and I hope he’s right, but more often than not, when one of these articles is written, Alabama’s name is thrown in there. Maybe its just for click bait but maybe there’s more to it than that.

There was a supposed $5,000 payment to Alabama’s Collin Sexton, now of Cleveland Cavaliers, according to one document. Another said the plan for Sexton was $1,500 a month, September through April, $21,000 to his family for travel expenses and a job for an unnamed “brother” that would last four years and start at $35,000 with $5,000 raises each year.

Our transgressions may not be as bad as others, but we could definitely be hit with penalties.

Exactly. And if Oklahoma State was any indication even a slap on the wrist is going to hurt.

Did anyone listen to Jox today? One of the guys said there was some good news associated with Alabama basketball. Can someone confirm what they were referring to?...

Only thing I've seen is a H&H set up with South Alabama.

USA is pretty weak right now, so I don't really fear them, but that's a dangerous precedent to set. There's a reason we have shunned UAB and USA all these years. We don't need more competition for the sparse D1 basketball talent this state produces. We don't need to be legitimizing a 2nd level program. There was a time when USA was pretty formidable and the NCAA did us the favor of matching us against them in the first round of the tourney in the late 80's. It didn't end well for the good guys.

My question about the Collin thing would be was that Dawkins' proposal to the Sexton family that was discussed over the infamous dinner? If so, was it accepted? Can you prove it was enacted? Should be pretty easy to prove or disprove: just look and see if his brother got a job similar to the one suggested. Tax records could easily prove or disprove that. If any of that is true, we got problems.

Yeah I don’t understand playing at South Alabama. They aren’t very good right now so it doesn’t help our power numbers. We don’t extra help recruiting in Mobile. They’ll be hyped up and give us their best effort they give anyone all season. And if we do happen to lose it’s a terrible loss.

I believe Auburn barely survived at the buzzer down there back in November.

Barry Dunning JR class of 2022 McGill Toolen high school could be one reason for scheduling this game.

Dolphin is spot on with Barry and others. That area is turning out talent for multiple sports. No sense letting FSU have them.

Unless the Sexton family voluntarily gives these up, the NCAA has no access to them.

Playing on the road will help the NET which is why this game was scheduled. It gives us a much higher boost than playing them in Tuscaloosa or Birmingham. It also gives the opportunity to south Alabama Bama fans to catch us live. It’s hard to justify a 4+ hour road trip for a basketball game so this helps give the entire state the opportunity to see us in person by playing in Mobile, Tuscaloosa, and Huntsville during the course of a year.

Zion’s lawsuit is getting rather nasty. Does Duke and Coach K. emerge unscathed? Looks worse than Will Wade at first glance.

It’s not going to look worse until Coach K is on tape. LSU still has the most damning case to be completely shite on by the NCAA.

You'd have to be a fool or a blind Duke/Coach K fanboy to think that Zion went to Duke without financial incentive to do so. He got paid. Probably a lot. But at the same time it's pretty obvious this Ford woman has an axe to grind over losing a $100M client, so I'd take anything she says with a huge grain of salt.

Of course she does. But she's not going to get anywhere lying in a lawsuit. She's going to have to provide ample evidence to back up her claims. If there's nothing to any of it, the suit will be summarily dismissed pretty quickly. It may not be the gospel, but there's got to be some flames under all that smoke somewhere.

it just doesnt look like the stuff she is throwing out there has anything to do with the law suit. Did she have a valid contract, without being registered as an agent in North Carolina or FL or the nba?
