Scheduling: Alabama sets future basketball series with Memphis. Series will start in ‘21-‘22 but the two teams may play a charity exhibition as well this November
Exhibition would be at Memphis
Good. Maybe if we kick Penny's arse, it will offset some of his $U$PICIOU$ recruiting.

John Petty is in Tuscaloosa.

Figure he’s cleaning out his apartment?

Or just coming back to practice.

I follow him on Snap. He’s been in Tuscaloosa on and off for awhile. Wouldn’t look into that tbh. COULD mean something, but I’m not getting my hopes up

The Prove It Tier – Alabama, Arkansas, Auburn, Florida
Love all these teams. Love them.
However, the criteria for the Prove It Tier is teams that have talented rosters and high expectations, but still need to prove they have the intangibles to challenge for a league title.
Florida surprisingly lost Andrew Nembhard to transfer, and that not only puts pressure on Tre Mann and others on offense, but also on Mike White. The Gators need to win big and win big now to ease some of the pressure on the sixth-year coach. Luckily, Keyontae Johnson is an SEC Player of the Year candidate, and Scottie Lewis’s return helps as well.
Alabama and Arkansas are somewhat similar in that they have second-year coaches who have quickly added a bunch of talent. Of course, they’ve also each lost their best player from a season ago to the pro ranks, and filling the shoes of Kira Lewis and Mason Jones won’t be easy. But did I mention both teams have some ridiculous talent? Getting Isaiah Joe and John Petty back would be an added bonus.

It was written by Blake Lovell. He does a great job of covering SEC hoops imo. I always enjoy his stuff.

Adam Bauman said on the livestream today were playing UNC Asheville in Coleman in November. We’re also playing a game in Huntsville but the opponent hasn’t been finalized. Also, he’s letting Luke Ratliff announce our season opening game Monday

Studying the SEC.
With or without John Petty, Alabama has a fascinating roster loaded with talent and capable pieces.
But will the Crimson Tide guard?
Gave up an average of 80.2 PPG during 18 SEC games last season.

I wonder if Oats and staff will try and adjust scheming a bit this year. He said he doesn’t do zone but man it’d be nice to have that in your back pocket when what you’re doing isn’t slowing anyone down from scoring.

I think we will, even without Petty.
Shack and Herb will continue to improve defensively and Primo should be very good with his length and athleticism. Bruner is a massive improvement from Davis/Smith/Reese

Yeah, you'll be amazed at how much the defense improves when opponents don't think they can go inside any time they want or need to. We knew the inside was weak but how much did the perimeter players try and cheat closer to the paint and/or collapse on entry passes because they knew about the black hole in there? If everyone can just worry about their guy and not have the thought in the back of their minds that if he gets by me, there's no help inside, the defense will improve.

We are gonna have two of the best defenders in the country in Herb and Bruner, Keon Ellis is no slouch either, he broke his JUCO teams steals record about halfway through last season.
He finished with 114 steals, breaking the previous team record by 21.

Amid protests, Wendell Hudson delivers message to Alabama basketball players
Come on, man.
quote:
Getting all of his players to focus for the regular Zoom meetings has at times been challenging for Oats -- one recently dialed in while getting a tattoo -- but he felt his group was engaged for Hudson’s talk. Senior Herb Jones was among those participating in the dialogue.
Come on, man.
