That isn’t his slot value. The Yankee’s total bonus pool was $8,134,500. The 26th slot value is $3,332,900, but many are assuming he agreed to sign under slot.

Is it too early to speculate on who our weekend rotation pitchers are and one or two BP guys?

I’d imagine Quick and Adams are, Lord willing, two guys with inside track to weekend slots. I think they like Fay’s potential as a starter as well, but he could also be a bullpen guy very easily.
Myers was a pretty significant bullpen piece last year and I’d imagine will be again. Heiberger had a pretty big role as a true freshman and I’d think that expands also. He COULD be a potential starter as well.
Of the transfers Bradley-Cooney seems likely to be a bullpen guy and Finateri was primarily a starter at GT but he will need to show better to be a weekend guy. Don’t know much about the signees other than I understand Mogundo has a huge arm. Doubt it’s too refined or he’d have been picked last week.

That’s maybe more than you asked for. I’ll predict Quick, Adams, and Fay as weekend starters with bullpen roles falling to several of the others.

I really hope we can do better than Fay. He ended up being a gas can by the end of the year. I wonder if the Mississippi JUCO gets a look. Good stuff but bad control.

I think Fay has good stuff but honestly that is a tough role, especially as a freshman, for a guy who probably for the past four or five years pitched once a week, to now be asked to go out for multiple outings in a single weekend, even if they were short. I feel like the tank was probably empty by the end of the year. I think the slider-sinker combo plays, but his control has to improve.

I dont think Hodgdon signed with the Reds. (unless I just cant find it) If he comes to Bama he will either be a weekend starter or our closer.

Two days ago the Cincinnati Reds made seven new signings of draft picks. Today the club is adding to it, picking up two more players by signing 12th round pick Will Cannon – a right-handed pitcher from Auburn – and 17th round pick Trent Hodgdon – a right-handed pitcher from South Carolina Upstate.

Mac Guscette has been activated by the Florida Coast League Braves today, so he may end up being the first of the 2024 class to make a professional debut.

MAJOR shakeup for college baseball starting next season. Division 1 baseball will now have 34 scholarships available (up from 11.7). I’d expect all SEC schools to use all of them (colleges can make individual decisions on whether they want to use them all).
Now, the difficult part - rosters are capped at 34. Which essentially eliminates walk ons. Vaughn has got a job ahead of him because my current count with returners is 49, which means 15 - almost one third - of those guys won’t be here next spring!!
