Nice win. Won't matter one bit if we don't win 4 of the next 6 conference games.

Light crowd at The Joe tonight. USM is currently projected to be a 3 seed in the tournament (by D1 Baseball). Pleasantly surprised at the offensive output, and like some mentioned above, I feared for the worst tonight. Hope they saved some for the weekend. Sure would be nice to break out the brooms on Sunday.

Alabama baseball recorded a 13-0 shutout win over Southern Miss on Tuesday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. With the midweek victory, the Crimson Tide improves to 24-10 on the season and a perfect 10-0 in midweek games.

Alabama wasted no time getting on the board Tuesday evening, posting a pair of runs in the bottom of the first inning. After a leadoff home run from Colby Shelton to start the fifth, the offense left no doubt, adding six more runs in that frame. The Tide then posted two runs apiece in the sixth and eighth innings for insurance.

The offense was complimented by a strong effort from the Tide pitching staff. Jacob McNairy (5-1) got things started, tossing 4.2 innings and striking out four with no walks for the win. McNairy then gave way to the bullpen of Zane Probst, Hunter Furtado, Riley Quick, Alton Davis II and Aidan Moza. The relief group held the Golden Eagles hitless over the final 4.1 innings to secure the shutout victory.

From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"I'm really proud of our club. This was obviously a big win, a really well-played game. I challenged our team yesterday by telling them that we have to play our best baseball more consistently really soon, and the guys brought it tonight. Jacob (McNairy) gave us a great start. It was big when Zane Probst came in in the fifth to get the final out, which gave us a chance to really break the game open there in the bottom of that inning."

I shouldn’t get my hopes up, but with the midweek success this team can possibly find a way into a regional with 13 conference wins. They’d have to bolster that with a couple wins in Hoover. But that’s all cart before the horse at this point. Like you said, they have to win these upcoming conference games. It gets brutal down the stretch.

Series left vs. Auburn, Missouri, LSU, Vandy, A@M, and Ole Miss. I'm not sure I see 9 more conference wins on that schedule. Not the way we've played on the weekend.

You basically have to go 4-2 the next two weekends. Don’t get swept in the remaining series. Win one of those series. That’s 13-17.

And sadly these are the gymnastics we are doing this time of year. Every year for over a decade.

On Saturday (pregame):

Honoring the 1983 Team
• Alabama will be recognizing the 1983 team as part of Saturday's contest with Auburn.
• The 1983 squad went 46-11 overall and 14-7 in Southeastern Conference play. The team clinched Alabama's first SEC Tournament crown on the way to securing a spot in the NCAA South Regional in Tallahassee, Fla. UA finished a perfect 3-0 in Tallahassee to earn a berth in Omaha for the first time since 1950.
• Alabama claimed three wins at the CWS and finished as the national runner-up following a one-run loss to Texas in the national title game.
• The 1983 team was led by Barry Shollenberger, who coached at UA from 1980-94. Coach Shollenberger won 487 career games for the Tide, the second-most wins by any head coach in program history. He is one of only three coaches in the Tide's storied past to lead a team to Omaha.

Rumors just started swirling that Grayson Hitt is out for the year with a torn UCL.

That sounds about like our luck. He must have either done it yesterday or had it diagnosed yesterday or today - he was listed as starting tomorrow.

Is this true?

It might be, but if it is why did he wait over 3 years to file suit?
