And now a terrible Ivy comes in for a 3 game set.
We gotta do better than this.

We have to be relevant to obtain invitations to the early season round robin events. Make a deep tournament run (Super Regional hopefully) and those invites will come.
Until then we just need to keep winning all the games we can.

Decent crowd at The Joe tonight. The game seemed to take forever with ASU going to the bullpen five times in six innings. Thank goodness for the mercy rule tonight. Bama got 4 home runs. Starting pitching was good again but the bullpen has not been as dominant. Lots of guys got in the game tonight. Not going to complain about 14-0.
18th-Ranked Crimson Tide Downs Alabama State, 21-7, on Wednesday
Alabama scored 21 runs on 15 hits and a season-high tying 10 walks
Alabama baseball used 15 hits and a season-high tying 10 walks to earn a 21-7 win over Alabama State on Wednesday evening at Sewell-Thomas Stadium. The 18th-ranked Crimson Tide is now 14-0 on the season.
Alabama paired 10 walks with 15 hits to account for 21 runs in the seven-inning affair. The Tide scored in five of the six innings on Wednesday, including five-run frames in the second, fourth and sixth. The offense produced multiple home runs for a fifth straight game and the 10th time this season, with the group of Mac Guscette, Tommy Seidl, Will Hodo and Jim Jarvis all recording a roundtripper.
Guscette led the Tide in RBI with six as part of a 3-for-3 showing that included a double and a run scored, while Seidl finished a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI and four runs. Andrew Pinckney matched Seidl for the team lead in runs with four as part of a 1-for-1 night with a double, two walks and a hit-by-pitch. Tide starter Jackson Reynolds (1-0) picked up the win with 3.0 innings of work.
From Head Coach Brad Bohannon
"This was a really good offensive performance for us. This was the second night in a row with multiple home runs – five last night and four tonight – so I'm happy about that. I'm glad to get this game behind us, these double midweeks and five games in six days can take a lot out of the kids. We will catch our breath tomorrow, but we're excited to play Columbia this weekend."

Gotta love the bats on this team, but not sure we can keep the other team from scoring in bunches when we get to the SEC slate.

Hearing rumblings that Saturday may be a double header pending Sunday weather so watch for time changes and/or scheduling updates

Agreed. Even if you aren't in the big tournaments you can still play better teams than this. I know we as an athletic department feel its beneath us but scheduling South Alabama or Troy for a series would've been loads better than what we've gotten to this point.

Colby Shelton has been one of the best freshmen in the country so far. He's hitting .366 with 9 HRs (7 in the last 5 games) and 20 RBIs in his first 13 games. Super simple setup w/minimal stride and load, really lets hands work. + Raw power to all fields, Day 1 upside in '24.

Columbia, Alabama Baseball Have Deep Ties
Alabama hosts Columbia this weekend in the final non-conference series of the year.
While this weekend is the first head-to-head meetings, the two teams share some rich baseball history.
The Crimson Tide and Lions have never met on the diamond, but two schools did play in the same NCAA Regional in Conway, SC in 2008.
Alabama is the alma mater of Hall of Famer Joe Sewell.
Columbia is the alma mater of Hall of Famer Lou Gehrig.
Both Gehrig and Sewell were teammates and roommates with the New York Yankees.
The duo helped the Yankees to the 1932 World Series championship with a four-game sweep of the Chicago Cubs.
The Cubs left fielder in that series was Riggs Stephenson, teammate and friend of Sewell at Alabama.
The 1932 WS is noted for the famous “called home run” by Babe Ruth.
Sewell. Stephenson and Gehrig were all there to see it up close.
