As slow as Coker's release is, Bateman's might be even slower.

This year's QB competition might be even closer than last year's, if you ask me. This is conditional to how good the ground-game looks, but I'm holding out hopes that Kiffin will switch to a more traditional Alabama offense depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the O-Line and receivers, respectively. Who knows, maybe Cornwell or Barnett could even sneak in and fill the role. Who's your 2015 starter, based on all other presumptive conditions of this offense?

ETA: Mine is Cornwell, if the O-line is back up to speed. (Not a huge Cristobal fan so far.) He's got the quickest release with the additional threats of size and mobility. I'd reeeally like to see him head up an offense similar to the ones we ran from '08-'12

Right now I think it'll be Coker.

His release seemed faster at FSU, for whatever reason. He'll be fine though.

Bateman or Cornwell could definitely make a push though.

I'd like to think maybe Barnett could have a chance too, but his mechanics need work, and we always RS QBs.

I'd want Barnett.

Coker's and probably Bateman's problem are one and the same, reading the defense and making their progressions. It magnifies it, showing other flaws. Bateman gets jittery because by the time he scopes the field, the pass rush is there. He bails from the pocket, forcing a ad lib esque play.

I'd like to think another year will help that, so I'm leaning toward Coker. I've heard Alec Morris is a team liked guy, so he could be the deep dark horse...

They'd be helped out in a run-heavy offense. I guess ultimately I don't care as much who the starter is as long as the playcalling mimics that of previous smashmouth offenses.

My gut says Coker. It will be interesting though to see if any of the QBs develop a rhythm and synchronicity with any of the new WRs or maybe a TE.
