2 guys that were doubted alot coming into the season, both dealt with injuries, and they have been 2 of the best, most consistent players on the team. Arie has not allowed a sack, a pressure, or gotten a penalty (not sure if that persisted through the ironbowl) and is currently rated a 2nd round pick (either 2nd or 3rd guard int he draft). Perry is 4th on the team in tackles only behind ragland, collins, and depriest with 71 tackles. has 2 ints, 4 passes defended, a qb hurry, 3.5 tfl, and has basically come up big in pretty much every game. Love these 2 guys. Arie will play in the nfl, dont know that perry will, but we would not be in the position we are without these 2 guys

Neither were looking good before this season, but they've earned everything this year.

2 perfect examples of why we shouldn't rag on our players because their on-field performances haven't met our lofty expectations right away.

Ever since Nick Perry came back from his targeting ejection, he's been one of the best players on our defense. And Arie, man, last year pretty much everyone thought Cyrus' poor play was him trying to compensate and cover Arie, but this year certainly makes you wonder if it wasn't the other way around.

We also need to show some love to Bradley Sylve. I did a double take when I saw #3 on the field in the second half and thought Saban had thrown in the towel. But, that kid played a great half of football for us.

yeah, sylve maybe didnt get a fair shake, after it turns out white was one of the 3 best receivers in the country and it was the 1st game of the season. But eddie came back and played very well all year until the IB, so the opportunity never really arose for him again. Thank goodness he was there to pick up the slack when eddie had an uncharacteristically bad game. he gives us yet another physically talented, experienced cb going into next year.

Both have taken it to the next level in big games, almost like they are in the zone. Perry in the MSU and Auburn games have been crucial parts to victory. Not only the INTs, but the 1st down stopping tackles.

There was an early Yeldon run in the Iron Bowl in which Arie blocked his guy so well, he lifted him off his feet. He is much more agile this season than last year, looks like that knee is healthy.

Nothing is written in stone until they are gone...

Perry has been solid every year he has played.

Weird to think this, but I don't think this season goes the way it has if Perry isn't injured last year.

apparently he still does rigorous PT on his knees every day to keep them strong, 2 years after his injury. probably has the strongest knees on the planet by now

I think the biggest thing with Perry is he has stepped up his physicality. I have some friends who coached him in HS and even back then they said he needed to show more willingness to get in the mix. It was like he played a little bit cautious at times. Now it seems like he's thrown caution to the wind and is just playing. He's in on almost every tackle now.

I agree completely. Maybe he's been playing really physical all season, but I didn't notice until he got the targeting penalty. He's come back and had a damn good season for us.

That is probably it. He was always so hesitant, no he is just playing ball.

Arie, man he has gotta be one of the most improved players in CFB this season.

They are both going on the same list I have Marquis Johnson on. Great stories that shouldn't be forgotten from this part of Alabama football history.

Really happy for both these guys. Never count a player out because he might be the one who steps up wins the next game

Came a long way, always recall when he was struggling at 3rd string RT with it years back.

He's put in a lot of work to improve into a quality player. He had a good 2013, he's having a great 2014.

He has stepped up his game this year to another level, I will agree with you on that.
