Are we sure Blake Sims can't throw?

Yeah he's looked rough when he's gotten PT, but that has also come when we're up by 4-5 TDs and the play book is basically just run the ball.

He has looked uncomfortable in the pocket. VERY uncomfortable. That is a huge problem. On top of that, he either bails out fast and runs, or tries to make his reads, waits too long, and runs/makes an iffy throw. Plus it feels like he drops way too deep.

Yeah, I'm thinking his "throwing ability" ain't the problem. It'll be everything that happens before the passes.

IMO He has never showed he has the ability/potential to run the Alabama offense, he has my respect for hanging in there and being the backup and will be there for the open competition. But im gonna go out on a very short limb and say that this aint our guy fellas

I don't know if he can or not, he hasn't really been put in any pressure situations

Yeah, pretty much...I mean if he can't make the reads and progressions in garbage time,(granted, with a limited playbook) how is he gonna be expected to do it under pressure without making massive game-changing mistakes??

Exactly why stats don't tell the story...

Oh...Can we all agree that AJ didnt look great, and looked uncomfortable in the pocket when he was a backup to Mcelroy? Not saying that he will be as good as Mcleroy, or even get the starting job, but its kind of hard to tell how good a QB is in garbage time sometimes.

Well he did look that great at Aday last spring. This up coming version will tell us a lot. Is Cornwallce an EE?

I remember a Bama beat reporter noting several times in '12 that Sims struggled with accuracy the most amongst our QBs.

And do you remember how much AJ was coached in that "garbage time" compared to Sims? Sims could definitely get better but I doubt he is going to magically develop pocket passer skills out of nowhere. He is a dynamic athlete, and is probably no worse of a passer than Nick Marshall.

I, for one, eagerly await the Blake Sims era.

I just can't believe we got Cornwell AND Town. The future at QB is bright, even if next year is a bit of a lull.

If you fused them together you've got the perfect QB prospect.

I'm exaggerating.

But only a little bit.

Hopefully we don't have to find out after a loss because of seniority.
