Jeebus man. Let it play out. Boys need to release their frustration. It's not a bad thing to have some life on the board.

WRs couldn't get separation
This isn't accurate. Milroe doesn't throw the ball to the receiver until the receiver is looking at the qb. Timing is everything. QBs don't wait for receivers to "get open", before they throw. They anticipate where the receiver is going to be and throw to a spot. Milroe does a very poor job of this, if at all. The one good throw he made was to Bond, who had separation, and made a great catch on the sideline.

The defense also gave up 20 points to Michigan in regulation which isn’t great.
Their lowest offensive scoring output all season isn't great? WTF, man?

I'll take your word for it, but against Michigan I remembered seeing our WRs blanketed on most plays, and if they did catch it they were almost immediately tackled.

We scored the 3rd most points against them this season too. Their defense is their strength, they are tied with 2021 Georgia as the best scoring defense of the last 10 years, both allowed 10.2 points per game.
Mayland scored 24 against them, Ohio State scored 24 against them, we scored 20. They held 8 of their opponents under 10 points.

The point of the defense is to keep the offense from scoring. With that said, BAMA & Michigan's defense did the same thing in regulation.
Michigan's performance was great.
BAMA's was shite.
This take is intellectually dishonest. Holding a team to 13 points or less isn't a good defensive performance in the CFP. It is an all-time performance. It has happened a little over 20% if the time in the CFP.
OT was a different story.

I think a lot of us convinced ourselves that they were overrated bc of the offenses they played, I know that I did. But they are legit. Can't wait to see what they do against Washington tomorrow night.

Michigan played zone. Zone defense is supposed to minimize YAC. To beat zone, a qb has to anticipate throws and throw to a spot and trust the receiver to get there. Milroe cannot do this consistently. Or, of course, you attack the edges with your running game. Texas picked him twice playing zone, because Milroe holds the ball too long. He won't throw the ball unless the receiver breaks loose or gets behind the defender. A Michigan safety made a tackle on Burton, and he started that play 25 yards away from Burton because Milroe held the ball.
I will say this, go back and watch the drive that BAMA scored on to go up 17-13. In the play that Milroe took it to the 4, the offensive line was fricking jacked, jumping around. You have got to see this as a play-caller. That group wanted to run-block and take over that game. It was happening in the first drive after halftime. RBs were ripping off 10 yard runs on both drives. Then here comes the bad snap, killed the drive. Get the frick under center and hand the ball off, and grind them. Like in the 2012 SECCG when they ran Lacy like 9 straight plays or something like that.

If Michigan stays in soft zone vs Penix like they did vs BAMA, Penix will carve that shite up. If I were Mich, I'd try and bring an extra rusher and play some Cover 2 Man. Especially if that UW RB doesn't play. Problem with that is UW's receivers are outstanding. Especially Odunze. He's a baller. If they can't get pressure or play Man successfully, UW will win by double digits.

My exact thoughts.

If you watch Buchner tape from that game, he was evading pressure (one sack) and was running the offense well in terms of making reads and adjustments. If he makes that endzone deep throw maybe three or four inches shorter Burton would’ve had a touchdown
The main issue was he couldn’t hit the broadside of a fricking barn, I’m not sure where that came from but he’s never been that inaccurate even at ND
Yup. You could tell that Buchner understood the offense but simply could not execute it physically. His OL was better at Notre Dame, so that probably explains a little bit of the great inaccuracy but he clearly just didn't have the physical tools to play FBS quarterback regardless. I figured he was brought here to help Milroe learn the offense and eventually become Rees's GTA. I was surprised he was 2QB at the start of the season and that probably ought to have been the first sign for us that we had a lot of problems at quarterback.

if Milroe took that many sacks imagine a qb you describe with this o line, imagine Greg McElroy back there.
Listen to the fricking link, Jesus. We would have been in much better shape with a Greg McElroy.

I appreciate your insight but it’s not needed here. Race baiting, frick you, piece shite all that, is not happening here.

3rd down before the final FG play
This is right in the middle of the field directly in the QB’s line of sight. Results in a sack.

Its 3rd and 9 and the guy hes saying we shouldve thrown it to is two yards beyond the LOS. I’m not sure he would’ve gotten the first down, he most likely would’ve had to break at least one tackle.

The sack was a good alternative
Posted on 1/7/24 at 9:41 pm to CrimsonFever
We could’ve blocked them long enough that we wouldnt have had to choose between a sack and a 2 yard check on 3rd and 9 down that wouldve ended up short of the first down.

They sent six and they were in nickel. There's a single DB in man on that side and the only other man is a safety deep. It would've been a first down along the sideline
That man is wide open for days

If he hits that guy in stride, it is a completion at a minimum of 6 yards. He has a WR I fro t of him on a safety. He needs 2 steps and it is a first down. Even if he gets stopped just short, it gives you at worst a more marketable FG. It is a play that should have been made. I hope that Milroe can learn to take this because it has been there A LOT this year. Against UGA, he actually did this on one drive and kept hitting Bond on drag routes. It resulted in a TD. I was going crazy up to that point because it was there all game.
