I think it's premature to say Milroe is better than BY, but there is certainly a lot of buzz around the program about this guy. I heard one report recently that Milroe is one of the fastest guys on the whole team.

During the A-Day telecast, Kirk Herbstreit was saying that everybody he talked to mentioned Milroe, so there's clearly something special about this kid.

Will he pass BY? I doubt it, but you never know. We just need to hope he doesn't enter the portal, and is okay with sitting out the next 2 seasons if not.

But to your point - IF Young gets hurt, I agree. I think Milroe will be #2, and if he's really special, who knows... He might go off and light it up

Milroe sounds like he has all the tools to be a unique talent in a few years. He also is a true freshman whose knock in high school was how raw he was as a passer and QB. If he was competing with Cooper Bateman and David Cornwell I'd agree he might have a shot. But he's not, so we don't have to press him into service and dumb down the playbook like we did for Jalen in 2016.

Milroe will get to learn from a great QB coach for 2 years, refine his QB skills, get some snaps in blowouts and be ready to compete to compete with Simpson in 2023 for the job.

The fact that he is the backup that has never played a game.

According to the internet, every single new backup QB at Alabama is better than the guy currently starting. I thought everyone knew that by now.

This is essentially a base requirement for an SEC Championship year.

It was going to be Bryce taking over by game 3 last year, and all poor little Ole Mac did was break the QB efficiency record book, finished #2 in the Heisman vote as a 1st yr starter, and crush an all SEC schedule plus fricking ND AND the OSU in the CFPs for one of the GOAT seasons.

I'm hearing great things about Star Jackson. I wouldn't be surprised if he's the starter after the bye week.

Star Jackson

I remember when Sergeant Lincoln Osiris (can't recall if it was on TS or WoollyAl) broke the Star Jackson is leaving news.

No one believed him. But, SLO ran into him packing up his car while he was delivering pizza on campus. I miss the days of real insider sauces like SLO. You couldn't beat the pizza delivery news scoop.

Watched his HS film and got a very Jalen Hurts/Lamar Jackson vibe.

The guy has massive potential, but will need significant work in the passing game with his progressions and accuracy before I think he can make a move as a starter on an elite team.

His ceiling is NFL superstar, but his basement is Jalen Hurts on an off day, so I’m just gonna hope for the best and let it play out on the field.
