All time fav offensive defensive coachPosted by Magnum73

For me defensively 'Brother' Bill Oliver. With his already great track record I was so elated we hired him back to join Stallings staff. I still believe the 92 defense was the all time greatest for Bama football. Although 2011 is right there with them. His game plan against Miami & a confused Heisman Trophy winner Gino Torretta will never be forgotten. Offensively i'd have to go with Kiffin. Great offenses we had '14-16' with him calling the shots. What he did with rb Blake Sims was phenomenal. 3-0 against Auburn. 3 SEC Championships 1 Natty & 1 Heisman Trophy winner.

I remember hearing stories that Homer & Stallings didn't get along as their offensively philosophies were different. Homer wanted to pass more while Stallings wanted to ground & pound.
That’s true. Curry let Homer run his offense in 89 and it was a sight to behold.
The 94 Georgia game, Stallings had to let Homer loose. Barker had his career game

Would have been much better than Sark especially after Bo got hurt.
Sark was put in an impossible position. I love me some Lane Kiffin. He's one of the best offensive minds in all of football. But how bad do you have to frick up to be fired 7 days before a national title game?

Offense - I love Sark but what Kiffin did with Blake Sims was incredible. The guy can coach some offense.
Defense - Oliver and Pruitt

The best Defensive coach for my money was Jeremy Pruitt.
The best offensive coach was Jim McElwain. Always on point with our offensive identity.
What could have been was Brian Daboll. When Tua came into any game in 2017 we were a scary football team. Having to creatively scheme for Jalen was coaching with one hand tied behind his back. I will always wonder what could have been in 2018.

Definitely go Brother Oliver for the defense. 92 Defense was ball hawking, harassing the QB, Toretta, prime example.
Offensively, Homer was on fire with 89 SEC Championship team but I'll also go with Lane train. 3-0 vs AU, 3 different QB's all 3 years. Sims, Coker, & Hurts.
D.Henry, 2015 Heisman & Freshman J.Hurts 2016 SEC offensive player of the year.

I'm going to be unpopular for saying this but Kirby Smart was awesome as our defensive coordinator under Saban.

Kirby was a great asset until he left and turned into a backstabbing wench.
I love Bebes and how he brought us back to prominence and he loves Alabama and I love him for that too. But, bless his heart, he thought a toss sweep was a high risk, wide open play. Throwing it downfield was just blasphemy of the worst kind. You run the ball 3 plays up the middle, if you don't get a 1st down, you punt and play defense and field position. Keep it close into the 4th quarter and we'll figure out a way to score 1 more than the other guy.
He would be so out of his element on the sidelines today, it would be sad. He's a great man, and a great coach, but he's from another era when offense was something to do to rest the defense and that's about all. He won on defense and special teams and didn't give a rat's arse about scoring points.

Lane Kiffin had 3 different starting QBs all 3 very different styles and won an SEC Championship all three years
Defensive I can't decide between Joe Kines or Pruitt. Probably would have been Smart if he had not turned out to be such a ******* (insert whatever insult you want there).
