These changes are going to be devastating to small programs. I know what Bama’s stance has always been about in-state programs but IMO this would be a time to consider filling schedule vacancies with them.

Assuming that we do actually play some football this sounds like the right thing to do.

I don't think they want to fill gaps in the schedule if we have a season. The gaps are there to allow flexibility in moving games around. The schedule is going to be very fluid and flexible to accommodate the most players on both teams if I'm reading the tea leaves correctly. They want open dates. Someone even speculated games every other Saturday to allow 14 days between contests.

Cannot blame them. Makes sense as Covid can only spread through out of conference games.

I would be very shocked if the state of Mississippi has football in the fall. Highschool or college.. the spikes are finally hitting our hospitals. I actually have a Defense too this year.. pisses me off.

Let’s be honest it’s a way to avoid a 40-50 point L in the opener.

Bama was in talks with TCU to replace USC a few months ago. Will TCU take the spot in that game vs Bama?

I doubt it. With the Big 10 and Pac-12 having made this decision, and the ACC reportedly set to announce the same decision, I would expect the Big 12 and SEC to also play a conference-only schedule.

Wasn't there an article out saying the SEC/ACC rivalry games were still going to be played?

With USC cancelling the game, can anyone explain to me why this isn’t a forfeit?

If it were up to me, official games would be the only ones that count in the record books, but we’ve been robbed of so many official wins it’s unreal. Wondering how a team can just back out 2 months before kickoff

Technically it wasn’t USC that backed out. The PAC-12 simply cancelled all non conference games.

The 5 largest hospitals in Mississippi are out of ICU beds and the virus is spiking all over the country. Conferences eliminating a third of their schedule is simple maintenance at this point. The next few weeks will tell the rest of the story.

Most large hospitals are always almost out of ICU beds.

There are two large hospitals where I live. They both have a COVID area and the regular ICU. The regular ICU is almost at capacity in both. Such is the norm for ICU. Don’t let that media talking point scare you into thinking that people are dropping like flies
