A shocker we couldnt score more than 3. Team BA will take a hit after this one. Abby was 0-2 and she is probably below 160 BA.

So what's the deal with the improvement?

Looking on RollTide.com, it's the same coaching staff of Murph, McMahon, Braud and Arbor that have been since 2024. Are they just finally gelling this well, is the freshman class just that good? Am I missing something else?

Seems like they hit hard on the freshman and transfer portal class. Maybe they're finally starting to realize the roster composition to get the kind of approach they want at the plate.

We have a true SEC number 1 pitcher. Some good batters. Sitting people like White.

They've hit on a couple transfers, Murphy told all the girls they needed to get stronger over the off season. I think he has changed his offensive game plan they don't slap hit nearly as much as in years past. More full powerful swings with extra muscle gain equals more HR's more runs and also they have a couple of fr pitchers that are the real deal.

Texas had some power though. I think having small ball capability is important, even in the MLB, but it tends to be that the teams that go the distance have the ability to crush a miss over the fence.

Quality of pitching and fielding is much better in softball than a decade or two decades ago. You got to have hitters who can crush misses to put multiple scores up instead of needing to parade hitters around the base path by onesies and twosies.

That’s a different argument. We only had one slapper in the lineup last year. White. She has basically the same role this year. The difference is our “power” hitters are hitting with more power now. It has nothing to do with how many slippers you have. Runs are runs. If you can get on base in any way, and you have 2-3 girls who can consistently hit with power, you will score enough runs to compete.

I’ll disagree a bit on the second assertion. Pitching has nothing dramatically improved. It’s a bit of an issue for a lot of teams right now. Not a lot of elite pitching talent to go around. The hitting talent has far outpaced it over the past decade or so.
