“We haven’t made that determination in the offensive line just yet.”
Saban's quote here is an example of his philosophy -- he's saying he (and the coaching staff) don't know yet who the starters on the offensive line are. That will be determined throughout the remainder of fall camp.
It's what he's done every single year; he doesn't name starters at this point, at any position.
Just food for thought for those who want him to kowtow to their own desires. It's not how he coaches, prepares, or manages the team. And since he's been somewhat successful with this approach, I think it makes sense to let him handle it how he sees fit.

What’s up with Womack - where was he in the depth chart

Petrino said L'ville is going to beat us.

saw a quote saying someone is out a number of games due to a nagging foot injury. Could this be Womack?

Saban pretty much said McKinney and Diggs were the only 2 that had sort of nailed down a starting job.

If any of you guys think you are the Head of the Tua fan club, you better get in line. Chris Childers (espn radio) has got to be the president of the fan club. He called Tua, among other things:
A freakish QB
A difference maker
Heisman Fav
Absolutely the real deal
Most talented QB in America
He said Alabama is the closest to a 100% chance to win the NC. Said I love this team. Lots of juice on offense. Said Alabamas qbs have been mostly average, but now they have the best QB Saban has ever had.

It's Womack. He's having surgery today and will miss 6 weeks.

Hate it for Womack, injuries keep derailing him. I think in '19 he could get back into the starting lineup on the interior of the OL though.

You all will think I’m exaggerating and jumping the gun, I think I am too, but watching Tua throw the football it just feels like watching one of the greats. Not everyone has the kind of ball placement Tua has. It’s on a dime way more often than not. There’s a lot of other variables for a Quarterback’s success, but no one in college football right now spins it like Tua assuming he is at his absolute best.

LINK ]Alabama practice report: A few pre-scrimmage notes, observations (al.com)
quote:
Alabama was back on the field Friday afternoon for one more practice before Saturday's second scrimmage in Bryant-Denny Stadium.
A few notes from the shorter-than-normal media viewing period:
-- Players weren't in full pads, but helmets, shoulder pads and shorts.
-- The right side of the line continues to be Jedrick Wills at tackle and Alex Leatherwood at guard. "Just an experimental thing that we do," Nick Saban said Thursday. "One of the things you need to do in camp is okay, every day is important, today is important, the next play is important, tomorrow is important but what happens in October and November is important too. So, if you're going to build diversity in your players you almost have to do it now. If a guy goes down and you want to move somebody over to guard, play another guy at tackle."
-- Matt Womack wasn't out there. He injured his foot this week in practice, AL.com reported Friday afternoon.
-- True freshman Tommy Brown was with the second team at right tackle. Read about his interesting path to Alabama.
-- Scott Lashley was working with the second group at left tackle while Deonte Brown was with the second team at right guard.
-- Quarterback update: Still TBD.
-- It'll be interesting to see how freshman outside linebacker Eyabi Anoma progresses this year. He looks really athletic out there and would seemingly have a role somewhere -- at the least -- in specialty packages for pass-rushing situations.

BOL -- Shyheim Carter participated in individual drills with the safeties at the end of the viewing period. The junior was at the back of the line. Deionte Thompson was up first, followed by Xavier McKinney, Keaton Anderson, Daniel Wright, Kyriq McDonald, Jared Mayden and Eddie Smith. Carter lined up at safety with the twos during Thursday’s nickel drills of practice.
quote:
CrimsonBoz -- Upon further investigation they are getting Surtain ready to play Star in dime and move Carter to money.

Shy in some kind of disciplinary trouble?

Was wondering the same thing. Maybe Saban sending him a message to step it up?

I don't think so...Boz mentioned they were experimenting with Surtain at Star and Shy at Money when in dime...I think Money is usually handled by more of a safety type role so maybe that's why he was with the safeties...Hootie played Money a decent bit the last year or two...
