Tabor's mom on the flip:

quote:

“It was his dream to play at Florida, and I felt as if though it was going to be the best place for him to obtain his four year degree. Getting on the field early, playing in the Southeastern Conference, and I’ve always been a Florida-Alabama mom. I want my son to have what is best for him and it’s close to home, so that’s the way it’s going to be.”

When asked if this was completely Jalen’s decision or someone else in the family, Merri responded with, “100-percent family decision.”

Why commit to fricking Arizona if his dream was to play for Florida?

Sounds like a compromise. They didn't want him all the way out there in Arizona, and he didn't want to go to Alabama.

How would Ricky Town feel about the Kiffin hire?

Who knows? Town has said that he is solid to Alabama since the Nussmeier departure. We haven't hired Kiffin yet.

I know he wasn't considering USC when Kiffin was there

USC has had a Class of 2015 QB (David Sills) committed for almost 4 years.

People thought Town was a USC lock until he pulled the trigger on us. The lack of stability in that program had to help. A lot of people thought a knockout pro style hire at USC could sway him to stay on the West Coast.

Kiffin is a good QB coach, and the offense isn't changing.

I guess if Saban can keep him muzzled and on the straight and narrow, then I don't have a problem with him being hired.

Saban wouldn't even consider Kiffin if he thought it would be a problem. I think it could be a great fit for both parties. Who else is on the short list? Any names?

Don't think Kiffin has ever been a QB coach.

I was just wondering. It would surprise me if USC parts ways with David Sills. He's not good, but that's OT

One of the names I've heard Bobby Petrino is considering for his #Louisville staff is #Bama personnel guy Kevin Steele, the ex #Clemson DC.

Chris Walsh from BOL posted this regarding USC's offense in 2005 when Lane was the OC under Carroll:

quote:
While the offensive coordinator in 2005, USC's offense was in the national Top 6 in every statistical category, including tops in total offense (579.8) and second in scoring offense (49.1), and set Pac-10 records for total offense yardage, first downs, points scored, touchdowns and PATs. The Trojans scored 50 points a school-record 7 times. USC became the first school to have a 3,000-yard passer, a pair of 1,000-yard runners and a 1,000-yard receiver in a season.

He also had Matt Leinart, Reggie Bush, LenDale White, Dwayne Jarrett, Steve Smith, 3 or 4 NFL caliber OLineman and PAC 12 defenses...woud you sayhe made that offense great or they made him look great?

Not really. He was a lean to y'all and the other main program involved was UGA

Most full time offensive coordinators are QB coaches. Groh would be as OC.

They also beat Arkansas 70-17 that season.

Kiffen was a WR coach when he was OC with USCw, Sark the QB coach. That is the only thing that would worry me about this hire. Need a top QB guy to go along with him.

I wouldn't use Matt Leinart as an example, but that's just me. Unless you really want to support that offense could make someone look good who wasn't, then Leinart away....

Makes me wonder if the Cristobal rumors are true then hiring Mike Bloomgren as OC/OL and a QB coach would be an option if Kiffin doesn't interview well.

They had studs at all the skill positions, as do we. However, the big difference is at QB compared to what we'll have. Matt Leinart was one of the all-time great college QBs. If we had AJ then I'd feel a little differently. QB looks like a glaring weakness for next year, as of now. I'm excited to see what he'll be able to do with the WRs and RBs.

A lot of people sadly have compared Leinart to AJ as the draft approaches. Leinart is bigger/AJ is more mobile.

Coker. Cornwell. Town.

We're good at QB for a while.
