Wouldn't it be very interesting if Frank Wilson got the head coaching gig at Arkansas State?

Chad Thomas is 6'5 240. No way he would be a DT in our system. Maybe it speaks to one of the others not making it in.

I'm not sure what to believe, but it would be nice to catch a flipasaurus instead of having one of ours turn into one.

Rumph and Cristobal are meeting with Thomas right now. Bama is second behind Miami. Hoping to get an OV scheduled sometime in January.

Bone said this last night in the chat:

quote:

Bamaroberto: Any news on DJ Pettway
BONE: No. Have heard he will not count against scholarship #'s in this class if he is allowed to return.

Appears we can bring Pettway back without using a scholly...

He also said Keith Holcombe will be bumped to a 4-star in the next Rivals update.

He added later that Rashaan Evans will be bumped to a 5-star.

Keith Holcombe among Shurburtt's top five steals of this class:

quote:

5. Keith Holcombe, LB, Tuscaloosa (Ala.) Hillcrest, committed to Alabama (247Sports Composite: 0.8500/3 Stars, Ranking No. 70 ATH) It’s hard to imagine the Crimson Tide getting a steal given the level at which they recruit, but this was one literally and figuratively. The hometown prospect was committed to Mississippi State during the summer until Bama stepped in with an offer and he subsequently flipped. Holcombe is the second-lowest rated prospect in Bama’s No. 1 2014 class, but as long as he stays healthy, you can expect him to out-perform several that are rated higher than him during his college career. Just this week, Holcombe put on a show at Alabama-Mississippi All-Star practice. This kid can flat-out play the game and he’s big and plays it fast.

I agree with Sand. I also think that a certain amount of our guys on the "commitment" list are no chance in hell of qualifying/potential grayshirts. Hence why we are pursuing so many guys this late. This is the first year I've seen us recruit this many guys in December especially since we are two spots under the SEC limit already.

Perhaps we followed the "Tennessee model" by having EEs sign their FAA before December 1st, thus making them "freebies" that do not count against the SEC's 25 rule.

I've never quite understood exactly how this works, and if it works for anyone and we could do it, we should be.

The coach of a New Orleans high school, with one of the number one recruits in the nation voices his opinion that Saban stays on a New Orleans TV station but it's bull shite because he used the words "thinks" and "intended".

And my thread linking this gets whacked. I guess it is a baseless rumor unlike all the planes flying around.

Its definitely clear that we want another JLB/DE type in this class with the staff still trying to pull one out of Evans, Carter, Thomas, McDowell.

I think most of us were thinking that Pettway would end up taking that spot, so if he can be had without a scholly, then oh my.... LOL!!!
