No. Texas does not own the money derived from it. Texas got a flat $11M/year fee that increased by 3% each year for X number of years. Once ESPN recoups its original $295M investment in the network THEN Texas starts receiving 70% of profits annually. That hasn't happened yet.
Not sure why you are so angry. I couldn't care less what the guy does, I just find it hilarious that fanbases outside of Alabama cling to every rumor he's leaving as gospel without knowing any facts behind it - such as those I outlined above. It's also funny that Bama fans cling to every rumor that he's staying without thought process behind any logic around his possible exit, though Bama fans are handling the possibility of him leaving much better than other fan bases are.
Yes, they do own the brand and the money derived from it.
It just so happens they have chosen to sign away the variable revenues derived from it for a fixed revenue stream from ESPN.
If I were a betting man, I'd wager that if Texas actually offered Saban a 1% stake, it would be termed as a stake in the earnings. Just a matter in semantics.
Either way, you are discounting the potential impact Saban turning around the Texas program could do for the LHN. Texas begins winning big, interest skyrockets, leading some of the cable operators which have hitherto refused to pick up the LHN to reconsider- the expected aspects of the initial agreement begin to take effect.
Lastly, I'm not at all angry over anything regarding Saban and Texas. What happens, will happen. The invocation of Jesus Christ was in regard to your line about the government.

Agreed, do you folks remember the reports about how Tony's mom loved the visit? The reports were that she came away extremely impressed with the new track coach. So I am guessing that the dual sport (track/football) plan is legit.
The process continues to evolve!!! BTW, frick Texas!

Nick looks tired. Probably hasn't been getting a lot of sleep at night due to his impending departure to Austin.

That's Burton Burns, right?

Nick Saban has more than one suit?

The amount of either Timber or Oil money that is about to be backed up to his house and dumped you would think he could have multiple suits.

I believe he gets his suits from the Locker Room.

I was serious. I worked there for awhile. Gov. Bentley bought his suits from us when I was there.
