We've got to do better in-state next year.

Absolutely. Looks like the state will be LBer heavy next season.

It's a much better year next yr for in-state talent, that the only reason Bama doesn't do well usually in-state

And Demetric Warren just CB'd DJ Pettway to Alabama.

I'm not quite sure how to feel about him coming back. We definitely need his pass rushing ability with Hubbard leaving early, but do we really want to give the naysayers ammunition?

I mean, we all love giving LSU fans shite over that "team vote" stuff with Hill. They'll be all over our asses if we take Pettway back.

I kind of agree with this sentiment, but I also see the other side of it. When there have been phenomenal in-state players we've made them a priority and, very often, have gotten them (Julio, Barron, Dareus, Yeldon, Ragland, etc). That said, the staff has not compromised and taken an in-state kid when he is not the most talented option they have available. I can respect that and I think HS coaches in the state can, too.

Next year there will be some very good in-state players and Bama will be in the top 3 for every one of them.

I love our national reach but passing on great in-state kids can come back to bite. From a historical perspective, that played a large role in the great AU team of the 1980s. Alabama went national too much.

Who do you think we will land from the instate kids next year? I know Payne has been high on us lately.

You think we did poorly instate this year? Think we pretty much took who we wanted.

I'm talking about numbers wise. We're well below 50% of in-state kids on the roster. We haven't signed a class with majority in-state since 2009. I realize it can't be done every year, I just felt like we passed on some very solid prospects from our back yard this year. Roc Thomas is the poster boy for this.

Speaking of in-state guys, I wonder what EJ Moss is going to do. He was thought to be one of the top players from the state in this class a few years ago then he kind of dropped off the map. He's still uncommitted and it doesn't appear that he has taken any visits this season.

Im very ok with this. I want the best players on the team. Dont care where they grew up.

Thomas would be the only one I would like, but there is really no reason to sign him. We either sign LF, or we treat the two RS RB's from this year as our freshman back for next year.

We could still take Joe Mixon if we miss on Fournette. I like him better than Roc anyways.

He's a speed guy with some size..needs help with being physical but he knows it, reminds me a bit of Amari Cooper, one of those kids from that area where speed seems to be just a god given thing to every kid

Who would he have taken carries away from at any point over the next 2 or 3 years?

Aside from him, Tre Williams was never going anywhere but Auburn, and the only reason Roberts ever committed to us was the fact that Auburn was a complete dumpster fire last year. Even if they had only shown marginal improvement this season, he would have flipped. Who else do you want? We have Bo, Clark, Hamilton, and Casher committed. We are probably going to lose Marlon to FSU, but that certainly isn't because we opted for better players.
