Was it always Cam's intention to announce before the season? It seems like this announcement is coming out of nowhere.

No. Julio was the second ranked WR in his class behind AJ Green. If I remember correctly, Terrell Pryor was #1 in the 2008 class.

Eta: Just looked. You and I are both kinda right. Julio was #3 behind Daquan Bowers and Pryor.

Good memory dude.

From all indications Robinson was supposed to announce at the UA All-star game in January.

Okay yeah I thought he was 1 on ESPN's because I remember watching all the coverage of signing day that year, but I just looked and he was #2 there.

Since I am about 90% sure Cyrus will be gone this year CRob's importance becomes even greater than being the #1 player.

Plus we will developing a new QB next year, so we need an awesome line to make that transition easier.

Ricky Towns (2015 QB Commit) could end up being the #1 player overall when all things are said and done. He is #3 right now on 24/7.

I'll take a franchise left tackle all day every day, twice on Sunday, over any other position. And I'm a QB guy FWIW.

Redfield (LSU fan with access to our board) appears confident that Cam will choose them on Friday. I'd love to get his perspective in here. I mean, if we are gonna allow others to post here it would be nice to share.

I wouldn't say confident but cautiously optimistic. There are so many variables involved here with the kings pushing bama and the other half lsu.

As of 2 weeks ago he was lsu but that a long time for things to change

Hope the post i quoted near the end of June from the tide nation forum still holds true this Friday. It read something along the lines of, "Cam Robinson has already told staff members he's coming to Bama." This was coming from a high school coach & long time friend of Bama staff members whom he talks with on a regular basis.

Red,

Not flaming or anything, but on the LSUrb you seem pretty confident Cam is going to LSU. Anything behind this confidence?

Nevermind, answered my question before I could type it :)

A lot of folks I've talked to tell me Saban rushed sims to commit to make up ground because y'all trailed. Cam is close friends with a lot of the in state players here and I know that means a lot to him. All this being said, which factor does he base his decision on?

FWIW, Shea Dixon (LSU's 247 guy) just posted that "he hasn't made a Crystal Ball prediction on Cam, but that things seem to be pointing to Bama (paraphrased of course).
