Hey Spleen. But wasn't that lying to your parents and getting away with it some and not getting away with it some part of the fun of growing up?

Absolutely. I don't want to sound like I do it every time he leaves the house. And while I've caught him being somewhere other than where he said he was going to be, I gave him the benefit of the doubt and didn't confront him about it either time. Both times he was at a friend's house hanging out when he said he was going to eat with friends at a restaurant, so I didn't see it as a big deal.

I'm sure my parents knew I lied to them on where I was or what I was doing at some point in high school and just let it go. Missing curfew was really the biggest thing with my mom because she couldn't go to bed until we were home. 10 minutes late and all hell would break loose. Oh and drinking and driving.

On the Covid note, the statewide numbers are continuing their good trend. According to BamaTracker the 7 day average positive test percentage is now down to 6.75% and the Rt is less than 1 for the 4th week in a row (.92 - fundamentally the same as the .93 it was for the last three weeks).

Welp, this won't make the anti-vaxxers happy.

CNN has descended onto the campus of the University of Alabama, seeking to expose students who aren’t wearing masks.

While not wearing masks themselves. The irony.

Your employees were seen at the University of Alabama not wearing masks over the most vulnerable part of their face! You are putting the students in danger!

Now I am even more worried. I had the MMR series when I was younger and still got the measles not once but twice.

There's probably about a 1 in a hundred million chance of getting both MMR shots and getting infected twice.

Most people will never beat those odds on anything in their lives, and you used yours on measles instead of the lottery?

I read that only 627 people in the US claim to have gotten measles after taking the vaccine. But it was 2 shots so if a person didnt take both shots, the odds of getting it go up. Every article I read said it was impossible to get it twice.

Nice info. We almost need an official, central clearinghouse with theories and scientifically proven data, so that the general public can understand what is conjecture and what is fact.

Social media tends to have such a narrow focus on certain aspects and agendas, it's hard to filter out the noise in a comprehensive way.

To bad the lotto was not around then.

Back in the day not sure how effective the vaccines were compared to today.

Well I can tell you for a fact those articles are wrong. Now understand I also had some other underlying conditions when I was very young that may have contributed to it but I can assure I had both shots and got it twice.

According to the CDC if only one shot is taken you have 7% chance to still get the measles, if both shots were taken you have a 3% chance to still get the measles. Mayo Clinic and John Hopkins report the same as well.

Also understand I was part of the first cohort in the US to receive the combined MMR vaccinations. Prior to that you took them separate. It it reported that then there was a failure rate close to 5% on the vaccinations which I assume has improved over time. I also was dealing with an immune deficiency issue they believe caused the second round within 6 months of assuming treated and cured of the 1st round. I was hospitalized at this point dealing with it among other things.

I know that tailgating on campus for game days will not be allowed. If we so choose, will we be allowed to hold relatively small protest and chant slogans against teams that are visiting our campus? And will we be allowed to have devices in the midst of our small protest that emit smoke to keep the mosquitoes at bay while we are protesting?

Asking for a friend.

Well, Byrne attended the rally on campus earlier this year.
