A rumor I heard at the YBOA State Tournament this past weekend was that Kira was considering not playing HS this year, graduating in December and going somewhere in January. No idea if credible or not (probably not), but passing along one story I heard

Coincides with the OM rumor. Here's to hoping it's not true, or the other rumor got the team wrong. Would make some sense if it was us, as we elected to not give Rivny a scholarship out of the blue.

It would be pretty hard for me to stomach losing an in-state 5-star recruit to OM.

The past couple rumors that have been posted about Kira are really weird. I’m not saying I do or don’t believe them, but I had heard nothing at all about Ole Miss being involved and had never heard anything about him graduating early. Only thing I’d heard that scared me was he really has always wanted to play at Kentucky, and if they offered, we should worry

Damn, I'm not sure if any of you guys followed Bo Churney on twitter, but he committed suicide yesterday. Breaks my heart that someone could feel that alone and helpless. RIP

Baylor will have a largely different roster this year. With it being a road game, all we really need is for them to get in the top 75 of RPI.

Kira Lewis Jr. just became a five-star recruit. He also just scheduled an unofficial visit to Kentucky, and it sounds like that visit to UK will be a pretty big deal for him. “I hope that’s why I’m going to Kentucky, so they can offer me on that visit,” Lewis said, according to SEC Country. “I’ve been a Cal fan for a long time. I’ve been watching Kentucky since I was little. I like the way they play, the fact that he puts guys in the league. That’s my ultimate goal.” Lewis is the No. 24 player in his class and the No. 4 point guard by 247 Sports’ ranking. The class of 2019 guard stands 6-foot-3, 160 lbs.

Hailing from Alabama, the Alabama Crimson Tide are the favorites to land him, but Natasha Lewis’ interview with SEC Country should change that as more predictions come in. “Kira loves Kentucky. Kira has always followed Kentucky — among other colleges,” Natasha Lewis, Kira Jr.’s mother, said to SEC Country. This would seem to bode very well for Kentucky if John Calipari extends a scholarship offer. Thus far, he’s landed Tyrese Maxey and Ashton Hagans in 2019, though the latter is expected to move into 2018. Kentucky has also offered Jalen Lecque, but he appears to be trending elsewhere. If that happens, then Lewis could be the next guard in line for an offer. Lewis’ visit to Kentucky will be June 10. He also has a visit to Alabama scheduled for June 1.

Lewis says he received a call from Kentucky assistant Kenny Payne after the Nike EYBL event in Dallas following the first spring evaluation period last month. "Coach Payne called and said they're excited to recruit me," Lewis said. "He watched me in Dallas and again in Indianapolis. They like the way I play with my speed, scoring, defense and the way I pass the ball. I'm a fast guard that can score when needed, get his teammates great open shots, defend and make everybody better."

quote:

Although the Wildcats have yet to offer, they've certainly piqued his interest. "Kentucky is a great school all around. Everyone doesn’t get the opportunity to get recruited by them," Lewis said. "Coach Cal has proven that he's one of the best coaches in the country and he puts guys in the best situation to be successful." John Calipari has already received commitments from 5-star guards Ashton Hagans and Tyrese Maxey but that hasn't caused Lewis to cool on the Cats.

quote:

"We haven't really talked about that," Lewis said, "but they see me as a player that can play on or off the ball." Lewis specifically mentioned Alabama, Auburn, Kansas, UConn, Baylor and Indiana as the schools currently the most active in his recruitment. "Right now, I'm still wide open," Lewis said. "Probably after the AAU season I'll cut my list down and decide in early November."

If we miss one of kira and Watford I think we miss both. If not I think we sign both, That being said the AAU guys I know in Huntsville say Bama.

That's a terrifying proposition. I don't feel good about this, guys.

Hoping Herb has worked on his ball handling in the offseason. We need guys like him and Petty who can be above average dribblers to get out of pressure, and not rely on just passing it up or having to have someone set a screen.

Then develop an offensive identity. Alabama was 184th in 3-point attempts last year, but finished 201st in 3PFG made and 301st in the 3PFG%. I think after the first few games once they get settled in, I'd rather them know to only rely from the outside if they start banking them early. Otherwise, just know it's not your game, and resort to a higher percentage shot. I'd hope Petty does this more, but that means he has to become a better dribbler too. You're not always going to pass to a person that's open. Draw the defense in, then kick it out to someone who can make a jumper.

I'm actually fine with that. And by fine, I don't mean I'm okay with the percentage, but I'm okay with us shooting the 3-ball at that clip even at that percentage. Like I've said before we had more wide open 3pt shot attempts than I've seen in a very long time last year. Outside of Petty, and maybe Sexton, we weren't taking bad 3pt shots, and it wasn't like the players were shooting from a distances they had no business shooting from. We just needed to hit more. If we pass up wide open three point shots, even if we hit them at a terrible percentage, defenses will sink in and make it impossible to penetrate the lane.
