So there was 17,000+ in attendance Sat, holds 19k. Sounded like a good many tide fans. Had a friend there saying it was hard to tell because of all the red.

Alabama football/hoops ever had a bigger 3 day stretch played in Tuscaloosa than #1 and #11 at home? Has the hoops team ever played a non-SEC team that was ranked #1 in Ttown?

Not in Coleman Coliseum. We need to pack the place Thursday. I suspect there will be a decent number of Purdue fans.

I know we played and beat Kentucky in '78 and I think they were #1 at the time. And Auburn last year. Anyone else from the league? Tenn? Ark?

If we aren't in the top ten today, I'll go ahead and melt.

Is it me or does Kenpom underrate us all the time? I swear he sets his algorithm to lower us. We’ve been more successful than his rankings point to year after year.

KP rankings right now are almost entirely based on preseason predictors, which really didn't favor us because of all the roster turnover and losing Sears and Nelson.

Don't even look at KP until mid-late December. Use Torvik now and filter out preseason stuff.

Yes. They were #1 and undefeated. We beat them 78-62. I was there. Took my dad. It was his one and only Tide BB game in person. The noise was unreal. Packed and large part of the crowd standing almost the whole game.

Yea, I was there. I was 8. I remember 2 things. We were in the top row in the corner and we had never sat up there before and I also remember a Kentucky guard pulling an Ala player on top of him on an inbounds play trying to steal a possession. I had never seen that before. Felt wrong. Ha

1978 Bama/UK Game
If it’s the game, I’m thinking of it was on a Saturday afternoon. We were visiting my sisters who was in college in Nashville at Lipscomb. I watched it in the boys dorm lobby with a bunch of college guys. I was in the ninth grade, but they were really cool about including me.

Alabama last faced a No. 1 or No. 2-ranked team at home in February when it hosted top-ranked Auburn and lost. Alabama's most recent win over a Nos. 1 or 2 ranked team at home was Arkansas in 1994; it also beat No. 1 Kentucky in 1978 and No. 2 Kentucky in 1964 at home.
