Alabama. It’s something of a reach, and entirely dependent on whether Jahvon Quinerly plays as expected, or like the non-factor he was at Villanova. But let’s say Quinerly comes around, John Petty Jr. and Jaden Shackelford improve, and Herb Jones does Herb Jones things. It’s not out of the question. — Dana O’Neil

The Alabama-LSU game doesn’t have a set make-up date yet, but the start date for college basketball season is set for Nov. 25. On that day, the Crimson Tide men’s basketball team will play host to Jacksonville State at Coleman Coliseum. In addition to insight into a potential football make-up game, Byrne shared what fans can expect when they attend a basketball game.

“Obviously a lot of fans are going to have to watch it on TV,” Byrne said. "But if we’re fortunate enough to keep moving forward, which I think we will be, it’s probably going to be about 15 percent capacity in Coleman, somewhere around there, to have it socially distanced. We are going to ask everybody to wear masks the entire time. If they’re eating or drinking something, we just ask everybody to be respectful to one another. If we do those things, I think we’ve got a chance to keep moving forward and have ourselves a men’s and women’s basketball season.”

Like a lot of Alabama fans, Byrne is excited about Nate Oats’ second season in Tuscaloosa. “I've talked to a lot of longtime Alabama basketball fans, and they’re about as excited (as I am) for what Coach Oats and his staff have put together, the way the kids have bought in,” Byrne said. “I got to watch them practice a couple Saturdays ago. We’ve got some guys, and they can play. There’s going to be a lot of excitement.”
