Again you are wrong. I like three point bombers. But some teams will shut that down. Sometimes, we will shut ourselves down because of it. Sometimes, driving and dishing can save you against teams that shutdown the 3. A balance can kill most teams.

And missed 3 pointers usually lead to long rebounds and fast breaks for opposing teams.

I didn’t get that at all. Quite the opposite. His free throw stroke was smooth and he hit an awesome snatch back 3 pointer. His only other 3pt attempt went halfway down before popping out. He’s still a train wreck at layups (to the point where I’d encourage him to try and dunk everything), but his changes with his shooting form and his confidence at the line (5/6 on FTs) suggest a huge improvement in shooting.

The PG drives it in and either lays it up, dumps it off to a Big standing in a “dunker” area or kicks it out for a 3. THATS our offense in layman’s terms

I look forward to seeing that. If we see that on a regular basis, you will never see me bitch about our offense again.

Lackadaisical/Lazy... the most poorly used adjectives on this (basketball) board. Alex Reese gives great effort, he’s just not quick and gets beat to the ball... it isn’t from laziness, he’s just gonna get beat to the ball a lot.
Also, I don’t see how he makes the 9-man rotation if everyone is healthy.

Cool.

The game of basketball has evolved in the last 30 years.

quote:

They had inside AND outside game strategies. If one wasn't working, they could adjust. You get one dimensional, teams can shut that down.

Again, get familiar with Nate Oats and the analytics that he believes in.

Do you know how many points we scored in the paint tonight? We shot 22.6% from deep in this game which could very well be our worst performance of the season. We shot 35% as a team last season with a roster that was less compatible to the sytem we run. What did we do to counter that? We scored in the paint. A lot.

quote:

I only want THIS team to have a backup plan. That's it.

You've obviously been following Oats and his philosophy close enough to understand that we aren't going to ask Reese, Bruner and Rojas to put their back to the basket and start feeding the post on the regular, right?

We have a head coach with a crystal clear vision of what he thinks is the best way to play basketball in 2020 and one of the best things about him is he is going to recruit to it and play by it and we are better for it.

Since it's a free country I let you know that I thought it was lame.

Thanks for your opinion though,

The funniest part of this is that 6'9" 230 lb Alex Reese and his new hairstyle would manhandle you into submission from your tough guy keyboard.

I'm literally just regurgitating the head coach of the team.

I'm not sure what you are confused on, but that is literally Oats' system. We are a team that runs and passes to open guys (usually open guys on the perimeter). We are not a team that plays half court iso ball and shoots only threes like it seems you are claiming.

Hopefully i'm done arguing with people.

Definitely need to be a lot sharper on Monday if we are going to beat Stanford.

We are Cobra Kai. Strike first. Strike hard. No mercy. The days of swinging the ball around the perimeter until someone would finally embark on a wild, out of control drive to the basket are over.

It's not the same game I played in the 80's. Players shoot overall better these days but they also don't get pulled from games for shooting a jumper. Our coach would yank your arse in a second.

I miss the motion offense most, back picks, etc.

Easy big fella.

We got the win and looked somewhat decent in the process.

Let's get through at least 6 games before we condemn the offense.

We all want the team to do well. There's nothing to gain from attacking one another after 40 minutes of basketball.

We burn down the Coliseum.

It's a win-win.

We burn off our frustration and in turn get a new facility.

Championship.
