Why do I get sucked in every year? Same shite every season. We hear about how good the new guys coming in are and we think we are tourney bound and then we see the same shitty product on the floor.

We’ve used the “just have to get rid of ex coach’s leftovers” since Grant got here. We are just consistently mediocre no matter who paces the sideline.

Rough week for Oats. Get dragged on social media for talking shite, get donkey punched by Clemson to end the game, then have to publicly apologize for talking shite. Not great.

Guys I got a dilemma tomorrow. I hate to sound like a teenage girl but Idk what to wear. I have a lucky shirt that I wear for Football for the past 7 or so years EVERY GAME. But we have never won a basketball game when I’ve worn my lucky Football shirt.....

WHAT SHOULD I DO??!!!!

Well, I guess we know what shirt your wore at least.

If we don't get our shite together quickly, Furman will beat us on Tuesday too.

I keep telling y’all, the Avery leftovers are holding them back. Herb can’t score enough, Petty is too streaky, and Reese brings nothing. So those are players Nate is trying to force into a system they aren’t going to excel at. And basically, they take minutes away from players better suited to learn and run. We need more ball handlers and scorers.

Herb is our best player and Petty may be streaky, but is probably our third best player at the worst. Reese is a backup. There’s 200 minutes to go around so the Oats recruits are getting PLENTY of run and not doing anything with it. I’m sorry, but blaming the holdovers who include 2 of our 3 best players is a shitty excuse. In no way is having Herb Jones or John Petty a bad thing for this team.

There is a spot on the roster of every single college basketball team in the country for Herb Jones.

Yea the issues here aren't because of Herb Jones or Petty.

That's ridiculous.

Well we all know Byrne is a HUGE advocate for masks and taking every Covid precaution so he’s probably behind the scenes crying about these comments. Won’t be surprised if Oats is forced to apologize or walk back on what he said.

Wish I knew how to quote another poster at the same time - Chadaristic posted this: Oats: “It was unnecessary. It was wrong. I apologized to him. We had a good talk. I understand now a lot better where he’s coming from. What’s best for one program might not be best for another. I learned lessons from it."

And Cobrasize posted this right after that: Missed 39 shots and had zero second chance points.

That screams “soft” to me. Just a soft fricking team

Guess we know where the SOFT comes from - Oats. If you say it, stand by it. Don't apologize for what you believe in!!

It's even more telling that this almost impossible stat has little to do with our effort -- our hustle and hard work on defense is what made this a close game. We did not play soft tonight.

It's a symptom of just how out of sync the offense is.

Against well coached defensive teams, we're playing a way that is very easy to defend.

If the defense merely forces us to drive and gives good help defense, they're forcing into us 75% or more bad possessions.

We seem to have no idea where the open man is when driving, especially making a couple of passes after the initial drive to get a good open look (and also have defense scrambling creating more offensive rebound opportunities).

That's on the players to some degree but it's much more on Oats when every single player on the team is falling into the same pattern of out of control drives and passing to players that aren't open.

I agree with everything you are saying but why was Reese in the game with just under 3 minutes and we were down by maybe 6 at the time? That is baffling to me. What does Oats see in him to give him the minutes he gets?

Not sure to be honest, but as much as I don’t like Reese I’ll take him over Rojas. I hope Rojas eventually turns things around, but so far he’s the worst rotation player we’ve had in years. For me to say that given my long-standing opinion on Galin Smith is saying a lot.

If it were me, I would give Gary and KAH the backup 4/5 minutes. It’s not like they could possibly do any worse than Reese and Rojas have. And why in the Hell did Ellis play only six minutes? Is he somehow still sick? I have a feeling he’s going to be playing 25+ minutes and make Oats regret not playing him in games like these.

I'm really confused by the rotations. I don't understand why some guys seem locked into minutes when their play is so substandard. I don't understand why, when it's clear some guys are struggling on both ends, we just let them ride it out.

It's pretty frustrating and it's not been a great start to the year.

Yeah, I’m completely unsure of the love connection with Reese and Rojas. I understand options are limited, but there’s zero chance that Gary and KAH are worse options at this point.

I’m so tired of getting emotionally screwed by Bama basketball. It’s always the same thing, over and over and over. Damn it sucks

I'm truly not sure I even agree with this. As I said earlier, we didn't get the game in Nashville so I had to listen but I would take Rojas on what I have seen previously simply because he will at least get in there and bang and actually go to the rim. I would however tell him to stop taking threes. He needs to only take it to the rim and get offensive rebounds and put backs. Reese pretty much adds nothing other than an occasional 3.
