People just need to get comfortable being uncomfortable with the Oats to _______ stuff. He's a great young coach with a new age, sought after style and we aren't an "elite" program. His name is going to come up for every Top 20 job in college and will start floating around in NBA jobs soon too. It's going to be nonstop, every year.

Stuff like that is why I get such a kick out of people who know frick all about basketball spamming "live by the 3 die by the 3!!!" with the implication that our offense is basically 5 Cam Thomases out there chucking 3s and just playing fast for the sake of playing fast. In reality we probably have one of the more sophisticated offenses in the country, and our 3pt rate is the product of simply placing more value on those shots because they're worth more points. It's not a gimmick at all.

I believe alot of this is wishful thinking by UK fans. I don't think Beard wants to leave the state yet. If he is going to leave Tech, I would guess Texas lands him.

I don’t really care about it to be honest. I’d just be annoyed if we lost him for some reason that we could control (salary, facilities, etc.).
I mean the NBA is the NBA - if he wants to go there then there’s not a whole lot we can do. And it would mean he’s done an amazing job here.
I am absolutely sure he can win big here if we invest in the program. But we still don’t know what’s in his head. Maybe he’s dreamed his whole life of coaching at a blue blood school? Maybe he’s always wanted one particular job? Maybe his wife doesn’t like Tuscaloosa?
All of those things are out of our control and thus kind of pointless to worry about.
(I mean the whole fricking thing is out of our control, but regardless)

That's just a difficult situation for South Carolina. Martin is the classic does enough to keep his job but not enough to keep the fans happy coach, and he's at a school with practically no basketball history to speak of outside of a good run in the early 70s. He's never going to do much more than he has done there outside of the Final Four year though, which just isn't great. He's basically the Gus of SEC basketball.

If we win these next 2 games Byrne needs to bump Oats salary up even more. Like $5M range IMO
