My best friend is the same way. He graduated from Bama and is the reason I transferred there. He's a Baka football and Duke basketball fan. Doesn't watch any other sports

91-96.

We had some good basketball teams in that era, and baseball was starting to get good. In his defense, he wasn’t much of a sports fan overall. Bama football is really the only sport he follows to this day.

Most of the people I went to school with were broadly supportive of most sports simply because most of my time in Tuscaloosa coincided with the Shula years, so exclusively being a football fan brought nothing but pain.

We were in school during a time where the basketball coach made more than the football coach.

That pretty much sums it up.

Saw that interview last night. The guy makes 1 milkshake joke, and now he's know as some kind of milkshake connoisseur.

I don’t have a problem with being an FOG if you just don’t like any of the other sports.

I can’t stand the roots for a random good team in basketball crowd,

It's crazy to think about now, but it really wasn't that long ago.

I think Gary has the potential to develop an outside shot too. His stroke&form isn’t bad. He could be the next Herb for us defensively

Yeah the % doesn't really reflect it but his FT shot looks pretty good. He has made 8 of 9 since postseason play started. If you have a good FT shot you can hit 3s. It's simply a question of taking the time during the offseason to train yourself to maintain the same shot mechanics while gradually moving away from the basket. He spent last offseason rehabbing, so this offseason he's probably going to dedicate to expanding his skill set on offense.

Gary will never be as athletic as Herb, but he’s a solid force on the boards, especially offensively. He’s perfect for an offensive rebounder in our system.

I have always been a BB fan but knew and still know plenty of FOGs.

Stormed the court when we beat AU in 2000 and again after Pettyway's game winner in 2002.

Gottfried was an arse but I always supported the program. Had a few run-ins with him and his family around town.

Watched the 2006 loss to UCLA on my honeymoon at some beach bar in Mexico. Seems like a lifetime ago.

He's always been a Duke fan tho. Applied to Duke, actually got accepted on a condition too.
