Iowa's defense is an utter shite show.

People just decided to ignore how bad Iowa and Ohio State were on defense all year, for some reason. Narrative I guess?

The worst Off/Def Eff Units in the #1 and #2 Seeds per KP

1. Ohio State Defense (#75)
2. Iowa Defense (#60)

3. Alabama Offense (#38)
4. Baylor Defense (#34)

These 2 units were by FAR the worst units of the top 8 teams and the media was just like kind of like "eh, they aren't great at defense whatevz".

And those Iowa numbers were solidly worse for most of the season, if I remember correctly.

Yes - they were LSU level bad until the last month or so.

And boy can you see why. They are like a church league team that can stroke it and just sits in a shitty zone all game.

If the women hold on here, they will likely face 2 seed Maryland in the next round.

On the flip side, Oregon has DUDES every single year. Altman can coach in the tournament.

try not to overreact about a conference's performance in the NCAA tournament (there's a lot of randomness, matchup stuff, etc.), but at some point what the PAC-10 is doing just becomes impressive.

I didn’t watch as much college basketball this season as I normally do, but I don’t recall many PAC-12 games being televised. I know I didn’t watch any. I know some had to be televised nationally and I just missed them, but kind of illustrates how dominant national perception is based on what games/teams/conferences get more TV exposure.

Oregon gets really big athletic dudes who seem to turn it up in the tournament.

They've quietly been on a recruiting tear for like 5 years now iirc.

Absolutely - they also didn't get to play as many big OOC games as normal because of pandemic stuff and the travel.

Watching these teams in the tournament, tons of skill and athleticism and well coached.

Dana Altman and the Ducks, 296th in game pace, deciding to get in a track meet with Iowa will go down as some kind of scouting genius.

I mean Iowa is just getting embarrassed. Oregon is going to score 105 pts.

Hopefully this game is a foreshadowing of what we'll do to Maryland tonight.

If Rutgers hadn't completely melted down in the last couple minutes last night, we'd be the last 2 seed standing.

Just to be honest, if Gonzaga can't win the national title this year then they're never gonna win it.

I don't think Maryland is anything like these other teams.

They look a lot more like an old school Big East team than these B1G teams.
