My primary takeaway alignwith Charles Barkely’s:

Rest of the talking heads at half: OMG look how well Iona is playing them. Have they found the key to beating Bama?

Barkley: No you dip shite motherfrickers. Bama is shooting like they are trying to shoot a beach ball through keyhole and they are still up one at the half. That’s how good they are. They can completely shite the bed and still be leading. They’re gonna win by 12-14 points whe its all said and done.

Talking heads: Member in 1987 when Pitino beat a 2 seed Alabama?

Barkley: 1987? I was poor in 1987. I’m rich now. Don’t talk to me about 1987.

Rewatching the game and Nate was on edge the first half. Like he was feeling pressure. I hope he relaxes too going forward

Yeah I listened to a short radio interview with Oats after the game, and he basically said that when he was at Buffalo he was used to being a double digit seeded team with the exception of being a 6 seed one year. He alluded to being a high seed at a big program with a target on your back being a new experience for him and the players as well.

I do think that it was the first round jitters that most high seed teams have, because you just don’t want to be the story of the day by getting upset.

Agree Oats and the players looked a little nervous. Reminded me of how tight Gottfried used to look in tournament games just not as bad. Hope we just relax and play our game now that the first one is out of the way. Because we will be solid favorites the next two games

Didn’t want an afternoon tip but also don’t think I’m going to like an 8:00 tip. I’ll never be able to get to sleep, win or lose.

Michigan's reward for being the 1:
The 4,5, and 8 seeds on their side

Alabama's reward for being a 2:
The 10, 11, and 14 on their side.

Still no reason to take anything lightly. We struggled with a 15

Alabama's Side of East Bracket Opens Up; Second-Round Game Times Announced

Crimson Tide the only favored team on its side of the East Regional to win in the first round of the NCAA Tournament

Not to get into a religious discussion, but the story of Moses holding out his staff and God parting the Red Sea may have been on the minds of Alabama fans late Saturday night.

Of the four first-round games on the Crimson Tide's side of the East Regional bracket of the NCAA Tournament, Alabama had the lone game that didn't end with an upset.

Consequently, it can only face teams seeded 10th or worse in its next two games.

Alabama will play Maryland on Monday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis (home of the Indiana Pacers). The game has been scheduled for a 7:45 p.m. CT tip.

Should it win, the Crimson Tide will get the winner of the absolutely shocking pairing of UCLA vs. Abilene Christian.

The Bruins had a play-in game on Thursday, edging Michigan State in overtime 86-80, to claim the 11-seeded spot.

No. 14 seed Abilene Christian shocked No. 3 seed Texas, 53-52.

No. 10 Maryland beat No. 7 Connecticut, 63-54.

Alabama, which defeated No. 15 Iona 68-55, can't face a single-digit seeded team until the regional finals. There were no upsets on the other side of the East with No. 1 Michigan set to face No. 8 LSU, and No. 4 Florida State playing No. 5 Colorado.

I like that all the other top seeds play early. Maybe some of them will come out sluggish.

At least we can argue with having one of the latest tip times, we've already made it to the Sweet 18.

Ok, that was bad...

Maryland looked pretty good to me from what I saw of the game. Hopefully we shoot well in the game, enough of this bricklaying. Not the easiest of opponents for sure. Need Shack and Ellis to step up. Don't have much hope with Petty anymore; just want him to go nuts in a critical game and take us home.

We play much better defense than UCONN so honestly we should win comfortably.

The problem is will we miss too many layups to cause ourselves problems.

It ain't even the missed threes. It's the layups abd bad turnovers.

Petty missing threes hurt. How he killed us was turnovers, missed free throws and missed easy finishes at the rim.

We are about to blaze our way to the Elite 8 in style boys! Petty may suck, but it’s statistically impossible for him to play this bad for the entire tournament. He will go off in the sweet 16.

I wouldn't count on it as this has been several games now where he has been horrible on the offensive end. We need Primo back to try and make up for Petty's lack of offense.

For Alabama Basketball to Keep Dancing, It Needs Its Best Three-Point Shooter to Deliver (SI)

Despite not-so-great shooting numbers against Iona, John Petty Jr. is set to bounce back for the Crimson Tide in the second round of the 2021 NCAA tournament against Maryland on Monday night
