Josiah Jordan James was a 5 star recruit, and I just find that really surprising. I mean it's not a Scottie Lewis type of disastrous evaluation, but I don't see what about him screams 5 star.

And I think he's a pretty good player, and a good defender. But he has no discernible 5 star offensive abilities.

Agree. He's a very solid player (one that would fit in great here) but I don't see that elite NBA trait from a 5-star perspective.

He's a great defender and with work could develop into a more consistent 3 pt shooter. He also plays really hard. Would be perfect in our system.

One of the most confusing things to me is Rick Barnes in the tournament. You would figure just by luck he would have more success.

Is there any other coach that has had that much success in the regular season and failed to live up to the hype in the tournament, time and time again?

Not a bad guess but Barnes blows him out in terms of apprentices and 1st/2nd round exists

Barnes made the tournament 16 out of 17 years at Texas but had 11 first weekend exits.

There is something about his coaching ability that favors the regular season but is really meh when it comes to tournament play. Guess it could just be game planning.

They really have been great.

Glad we've gotten to sit around and watch a day of tournament ball to erase any little bit of the idea that any game will be easy.

I been saying it all along. One game at a time no matter the opponent. You have to come in ready to play versus whoever it may be no matter the SEED!

It's not like you don't get adequate time to prepare for the first round game.

Yeah, thats my point. He must get out worked in that area when it comes to the tournament. Not sure how else you can really explain it. Haven't found any other coach you can compare it to.

Probably not as bad as Barnes, but isn't Mick Cronin kind of known for the same thing?

I kinda feel bad for Liberty. Sure, they're playing in the tournament. But you know they'd rather watch.
