247 says they signed in November 2018 and Oats was hired in March 2019. I feel like I remember some stories about Oats meeting with them to sort of re-recruit them though.

Rodman was only 6"7".
It's all about heart and reading the correct place to be.

Sorry. Didn't see you guys post about Rodman when I posted.

I for one choose to believe that Oats' career ambition is to be the guy who takes over a decent program and spends 30 years transforming it into an elite program before retiring and having the arena named after him ala Rupp, the Phog, and the Dean Dome.

Do we pursue Penn St leading scorer who has entered the portal?

I will choose to believe this as well.

He's from Birmingham and shoots 39.5% from 3.
Averaging over 15/game.

He strikes me as a less good version of Shack, so probably pass. If we go for a grad transfer it needs to be a big.

I like this write-up from espn:
quote:

No. 15 Iona Gaels vs. No. 2 Alabama Crimson Tide
Upset chance: 4%

Be still every sportswriter's heart, Rick Pitino is back in the NCAA tournament, but the GK model forecasts his stay will be a short one. Isaiah Ross is an excellent scoring guard, but as a team, the Gaels turn the ball over frequently, and Alabama's tough enough on opponents that don't.

Yeah, he seems a little redundant imho - I would pass as well.

Avery stole Gary from under Frank Martin and South Carolina's nose when he was all but theirs. Martin was very upset when he lost him.
Gary's season ending injury last year & also some this year has delayed his development ,otherwise he might be a star by now.

The men’s NCAA tournament selection committee has spoken, but now it’s time for the real seed list to be revealed. The Sports Illustrated 1–68 rankings aren’t beholden to Quad This or Quad That, or to any other metrics. This is simply a ranking of the teams playing best when it matters most, which is right now.

4. Alabama. Last year, the Crimson Tide went 16–15 in their first year under Nate Oats. This year, they’re a dangerous No. 2 seed. Can a team really come from as far off the radar as Alabama was to the Final Four? Just look at the football program for comparison’s sake. Nick Saban’s first season at Bama: 7–6. Every season since: national title contention. I’m not saying Nate Oats is the Nick Saban of the hardwood, but he’s done a phenomenal job with a tough senior nucleus and some talented younger guards. And the Tide are in the region with the most vulnerable No. 1 seed. Spring football might just have to take a backseat for a few more weeks.

Have learned that Vanderbilt basketball guard DJ Harvey, who transferred to Vandy from Notre Dame, has entered the transfer portal. Started 10 games this season.

Transfers are going to be nuts this year.

He previously bested those six threes in one game against LSU. Let's hope he gets that hot again.

Alabama entered the game making 34% of its 3-point shots this season. The Crimson Tide shot 54% from beyond the arc against LSU.

A mystery that will never be revealed. His disappearances offensively have now become legendary. Such a pity because we so want him to be successful and have a long Pro career.
