Perusing some box scores. Huge debut for Tramon Mark. The four-star guard at Houston went for 22 & 8 today for the Cougars off the bench. Kelvin Sampson has a loaded backcourt this season.

The Houston game is going to be a barn burner.

Just struck me that Reese is the odds on favorite to win the “most disliked player on this thread” award for arguably the second year in a row.

(The Ben Eblen Award?)

I feel like literally everybody else comes into the year with high favorability ratings.

Hopefully he has a solid year. Maybe he’s finally healthy.

I didn’t mind Ben Eblen. He just wasn’t good. I’d vote for it to be the Shannon Hale or Avery Jr. Award.

Those are good choices.

I do think Eblen was a pretty unpopular guy around here for a year or so.

Oh yeah, he's absolutely the favorite.

But I am going to try and forget everything he's ever done here and start fresh with him tonight. Supposedly he's completely healthy now, he's in arguably the best shape he's been in and he is in a system that plays to his strengths while our roster depth shouldn't ask him to do more than he's actually capable of.

Here's to hoping he can put it all together and be a positive bench piece for this team.

Agreed about Reese.

I was also just trying to ease us into some
mild negativity instead of having a tsunami of it blindside us when JSU takes a 2-0 lead.

Hale arguably was the least likable of all these guys on a purely basketball level. He was also on some really miserable teams. Eblen tried hard and was a pretty good defender. I had no huge issues with Avery Jr’s effort. Etc.

Reminds me of the 2016 season opener against USC.

They kick a long FG to take a 3-0 lead and we all freak out.

We won 52-3.

He was just an immature spoiled little a-hole. And his antics on Twitter really rubbed me the wrong way.

Except in this scenario we either lose or win by 3.

Because basketball.

I didn't dislike Eblen, it was just kind of depressing that he was the best we could do skills wise with his spot. He seemed like a good teammate though and I completely agree about his effort. He was never lackadaisical out there that I can remember.

Jr. tried to flex on someone on Twitter by referencing his 20 point game. You know, the one against South Carolina that went to a 4th OT and Jr. was one of like 6 players who hadn't fouled out at the end.
