Agreed. And NC State has a junior PG like Releford I think plus they just signed a 5* PG. If Barber goes there with that log jam in front of him, Gottfried is cheating even worse than I thought.

So much for Rashawn Powell being a late signee, he is deciding Saturday at noon between Alabama, Memphis, and Illinois. Don't get me wrong, I really like Powell as a player, but if we land him that cant help out with the Barber situation. Not sure what to hope for here. I didn't see Powell deciding before Barber. We need a PG in this class and Pookie is a very good one, just not on Barber's level.

Yeah I'm pretty torn about it. If our coaches let him commit to us, they weren't confident about Cat. I'd like to think if he goes elsewhere, that means we lead for Cat and our coaches are very confident. It could also mean that Pookie just didn't like us as much as whoever he picks though, too We just can't tell Pookie no and then not get Barber. We have to get a good PG in this class.

Our coaches did meet with Barber on Monday and Powell on Wednesday so they probably know what we don't.

Powell could be forcing our hand. Everything I have heard about Powell is that he was most likely going to be a late signee. I would just find it hard to believe we weren't sitting well enough with Barber, before he has even made it on NCSU campus, to not sit and wait for him. Unless Barber told them something definitive, I'd probably wait for him. Hard decision for a coach to make though.

That's basically what Eric Bossi just said: I've been under the impression that Alabama was waiting to see what happens with Anthony Barber while Illinois waited to see what happens with Demetrius Jackson. Memphis, they've also been fairly involved lately with Josh Newkirk and are getting more involved with Ikenna Iroegbu. Perhaps Powell trying to beat those guys to the punch?

It might be a case of which coach can't say no to him...

One thing is for sure, there will be some bitching on a certain forum unless he lands Barber either way. We land Powell and lose out on Barber, "we chased him away." We wait for Barber and lose out on him, "we should've went with Powell."

I'll just say this: If Powell wants to commit to us and we tell him no, we've got to do everything in our power to land Barber. That includes money, family trips, a beach house, etc.

On Rivals, a guy said he thinks it'll be Memphis. Bossi said that's his line of thinking as well.

Definitely puts a lot of pressure on us.

Jerry Meyer just said it'll be us or Memphis.

EDIT: now he told Bryant he's leaning toward Memphis.

If Powell picks Memphis, that kind of tells me that we think we have a pretty good lead for Barber. I would hope our coaches would go with a sure thing instead of taking a big gamble at a position where we absolutely need someone in this class.

Dang I wanted Powell. I dont think we are in the position to tell kids no. If he is a late signee take him and Barber and hey maybe he will leave IDK. Really like the kid Powells game though.

We aren't under sanctions, and Grant is a pretty damn good recruiter, so I'd say we are definitely in a position to turn some kids down.

If we take Powell, Barber will not be coming to UA. They play the same position.

Yea some kids down but we need a PG and we need a good one this year. Dont think we can tell Powell no unless we have a for sure backup plan. Yea we can turn lesser talented kids away but if Powell wants to come here we have to take him IMO. Kid would be a stud for us.

Powell was the backup plan. He appears to be forcing our hand though.

It's a huge risk reward situation here. We've gotten lucky in these situations with Lacey and Pollard so lets just hope it continues.

I knew that prick would be back for this, but Granger is already bitching before we even know what's going to happen. Haven't seen him post since we got Pollard....

I bet you its Gottfried's forum name. Still pissed that we canned him. shite he's one of the main reasons I don't want Powell. Ill be dammed if he gets another 5-star recruit for him to help under-achieve.

Pookie is good, but IMO PG's like him a are a dime a dozen in each class. I hope we dont him force our hand.

I actually think he is underrated from what ive seen of him. Hes just nowhere near Barber's level.

Brian Snow just tweeted that per his father he is Memphis bound.
