I really hope the only reason he didnt play last year was a language barrier or that the fact that coach grant told a certain nerd looking recruit he wouldnt recruit a point guard last year and wanted him to kind of be the point guard we would take by redshirting him. I remember when we first got him I was looking at his film and he looked 10 times better than Eblen. When I looked at his training you can tell that he takes basketball serious which is a good thing.

He told Sina he wouldn't recruit another true point, and Retin is a combo guard. Him not playing last year most likely had to do more with the fact Sina decommitted and our future PG situation was up in the air. I think Retin will play well and get some minutes next year, but keep in mind that he is playing the 2 guard for Belgium. He might just be better off-ball than being the facilitator of the offense, hence another reason Grant may have RS him.

I think he is a true PG in our system. I mean our PG runs the floor a lot but he doesnt do too much specialized passing if you ask me. AS long as he can dribble well we shouldnt have a problem

I actually like this kid. He is legit. Glad to see coach Grant wont wait around on Barber and be left without anything.

I like this kid. He can jump. That's not to imply he has no other skills.

The kid plays a lot like Releford. May not be great news considering Barber's decision is likely coming soon.

Article excerpt from espn:
quote:

Anthony Grant was one of many coaches doing his homework on Colombian power forward Tony Trocha (Houston/Saint Thomas) at the Reebok Breakout Challenge in Philadelphia. Crimson Tide assistants were also keeping tabs on ESPN 60 small forward Jalen Lindsey (Nashville, Tenn./CPA) at Big Shots in Myrtle Beach, S.C.

I might be the only guy here who would like to have Powell but this kid can ball. I dont know what you have to do to be rated high but his film looks good. Id love to get him.

Grant and an assistant watched JaJuan Johnson today. Cat Barber said we were recruiting him the hardest.

Don't feel like going back and reading it to quote, but he talked about really fitting into Alabama's style of play because he really likes to turn up the defensive pressure.

Said he wants to visit all of the schools on hist list in August. Wants to make a decision before his high school season.

Loves Grant, and Grant is the coach he is most comfortable with.

What are our chances of going deeper into the tourney this year? One of my friends who is crazy about college basketball tells me that he thinks Bama could at least make the Sweet 16.

I'd be surprised to see us go that far unless Moussa and Jacobs have really improved. We lack inside depth so our guards will really have to step up this year.

I actually think we will be better than last year, but I'd wager round of 32. Sweet 16 is possible, but any further and I'd be pleasantly shocked. Like Bryant said we lack inside depth, and while our guard play should improve immensely, we still haven't had a player show he can hit consistently from down town.

We could make it to the sweet 16. The kids we have just have to play the same way they played in high school and dont be afraid to play.

Lacey shot over 40% from 3 in the last 11 or 12 games. I think it just took him a while to get his legs back under him after the surgery. Even a minor procedure can take a while to recover from sometimes.
