I've heard great things can't wait to check it out for myself

And yea Chad, this team hasn't won a game all year so anything less than a sweep would be concerning. I almost feel like we shouldn't even give up a run

Alabama is winning 7-0 in the top of the 8th. Justin Kamplain went 7 innings, struck out 12, and had a no hitter going. His pitch count was at 98 so we put in Jay Shaw.

Geoffrey Bramblett pitches the 9th and completes the no-hitter

Need the sweep to get us to 8-5. Not a bad start with that tough ULL series on the road in there.

Tide threw a combined no-hitter (Kamplain, Shaw, Bramblett), the first since 1993 (6 innings) and the first 9-inning No-hitter since 1942.

Last year we had 9 wins going into SEC play. If we win Sunday and beat Samford we would have 10.

This team has a solid core of sophomores. It can push for a Super Regional this year. They have the talent. They can be a CWS team in 2015. Gaspard had them close in 2010. I don't see why he can't again. And the overhauled facility is only going to help build the program more.

I agree that next year we could be a legit top ten team, but the depth of this pitching staff has them in contention for Omaha this year. It's not always about the best teams making it there, a lot of times it comes down to a battle of attrition in the regionals and beyond, and we are as deep with quality arms as anybody. Pretty solid squad all around to support them too.

Final Alabama 3 MVSU 0. MVSU had a total of 8 hits all weekend. First time we have swept a team and not allowed a run since 1912. Overstreet got the save.

Pretty dominant performance from the pitching staff. I was joking when I said we shouldn't give up a run all weekend, but they made it happen.

So what does this mean for Castillo? Keller looks solid and if he were to struggle Eicholtz could probably get a shot on Sundays. Burrows has been great as closer. My guess would be Castillo to closer and Burrows as a legit set up man and if Eicholtz or Keller can lock down the Sunday spot we have a team that could potentially get to Omaha.

As stated before we would be set up to do well in a war of attrition at a regional.

The hitting is the biggest concern and personally I think it will come around.

I think Castillo will be used in a set up/mid relief role on the weekends, but might get some chances to close midweek games if we want to save Burrows. Burrows has been lights out and I don't think there's any incentive to move him out of his role, certainly not until Castillo gets straightened out at least. Our weekend rotation seems set with Turnbull/Kamplain/Keller and they've all been dominant. Like you said, offense is the question mark right now but there's no reason to think they won't get it together.

Going for six in a row tonight against Samford.

While I'm not excited about sweeping a terrible MVS team, I'd be happy to enter league play on a six game winning streak.

Samford is on a nine game win streak, so they'll be a solid test tonight. Eicholtz gets another midweek start for us tonight.

Nick Eicholtz has struck out 5 of the first 6 hitters. Score is tied 0-0 in the bottom of the second.

Nine strikeouts for Eicholtz thru five innings. Will Haynie has hit his first collegiate homer, 11-0 Alabama in the 5th.
