Very interesting. JJ has done an outstanding job so far with what we have in terms of arms available . Still think we lack depth but can’t argue those stats .

This team might actually be built for Hoover considering the production we have been getting (or shown we can get) from 3-5 starters.

,Correct, Bear. We are lacking the elite arms that are needed for a truly great team. However, our guys are punching above weight. O think we are heading in the right direction. it takes time to build a program up. Especially in a sport that is not a schools bell cow sport.

Good Lord.

If you had told me before the season started that Florida, Mississippi State, South Carolina and Texas A&M would be 4-32 combined after three weekends I would have told you to frick off.

We had enough arms to almost sweep a top 10 team.

We had enough bats

OU nor A&M are big power teams throughout the lineup .

Conference only stats are really what should matter when assessing things. I’m not sure why people don’t use them more.

We’re back to crapping on the pitching? Everyone can easily look at pitchers ERA in SEC play that isn’t behind a paywall. It might surprise you, and you can’t look at Quick bc his appearance against TN isn’t in my mind a fair representation since he had the blister. He probably could’ve gotten away with it if we weren’t playing Tennessee too.

No one is crapping on any pitchers. We are simply recognising that teams like LSU and Tennessee and some others have much deeper and more talented staffs.

Our guys have punched above their weight. But, when it comes down to it, we are probably going to lose 2/3 to Tenn., LSU, Arky and Georgia. And at tournament time, we don't have a stable full of mid-nineties guys with A to A+ secondary pitches that they can command. Can any pitcher have a day? Yeah, absolutely. Do I want to rely on lightening in a bottle? No, I'd rather have guys who show that they can do it regularly.

Right now, we have Adams, who has been lights out, and Quick, who did not have a great last outing, but apparently is injured. When he is on, we have two quality arms. Alcock has lost his last two outings. I think there is a pretty significant drop off to him. Heiberger and Ozment have been really good out of the pen. But, Tennessee showed us what a really good, championship level staff looks like. We hit like champions. Our pitching is much improved. But we are not yet elite.

Question:

Why did Kentucky/TAMU game Sunday get called after 8 innings due to travel curfew being 4:30PM? Our last inning against OU didn’t start until close to 5PM if I recall.
