Last time we were undefeated this late in the season China released a virus to keep us from winning a title.

I’m new to following College baseball. Is this 16-0 start a sign that we could really compete this year in the SEC? How good could this team be?

They've beaten some fairly decent teams but SEC play is a different animal. We'll see. They're good enough to compete, but winning the SEC would be a longshot.

It is good. Few schools have made it this far without losing. The real acid-test was the Jacksonville tourney, where we beat a good Coastal Carolina team, a ranked NC State, and came back to beat Ohio State.
The biggest thing that excites most of us is how we swing the bats. 1. Plate discipline is remarkably better. We are taking a lot of walks. 2. We bash. If a pitcher makes a mistake our boys can put it a long way out of the park. And we have guys up and down the order doing it. We score a lot of runs.
Defense seems to be acceptable. I haven't really kept up with that.
The only concern for most is pitching. We have some guys who can throw, but how many. Will the Friday night guy, Zane Adams, continue to be good once he faces Tennessee or LSU? Riley Quick, the Saturday guy, can throw gas, but he has some command and control issues. He will give up bases on balls. The Sunday starter I don't know a lot about. Bullpen. Will they be able to hold leads/keep us in games? That is a question.
We don't have a stable of mid-upper nineties future first round guys to throw at teams. We will have to be crafty and spot on. And we will probably have to outscore some folks. But, scoring will be more difficult to come buy against SEC power arms with major league secondary pitches.
Right now things are encouraging. However, in years gone past, we have started really well only to limp into a regional. I think we are better than that this year, though.
