Are you putting those guys in ranked order? Would you pitch Adams before Fay?

No real order other than starters then relievers. I wouldn't put Fay before Adams but I'd definitely have a quick hook on Adams in any postseason situation early. He's either on or isn't and if he isn't then things can get out of hand quickly.

I definitely understand your position. I do believe though that Riley would have more than a week to recover if he were to pitch today.

Can you imagine winning the tourney as a 1 or two seed and having to burn two or three top guys on Sat and Sunday with regionals starting on Friday? Kind of stinks having the conference tournament so close to NCAA play.

I get not pitching Quick or holding him for if we play tomorrow purely due to timing, but we're pretty close to "normal rest cycle" for him, so at some point it's the difference in 24 hours and whether he throws 80 pitches in a live game or 80 pitches in a side session in Tuscaloosa. And if that's the case, I think you gotta let the kid start.

I'd definitely have a limit on him and it wouldn't be very much (75 pitches or so).

Roger that, George.

I haven’t gotten to lay enough eyes on the team this year to make a really good assessment on that. I do know that I really like Fay’s consistency and his stuff looks pretty electric.

Fay has been pretty good the last month other than the Georgia debacle, and the biggest issue there was walks, which he hasn't had problems with any other outing (plus Georgia is as good a hitting team as exists in the country - a bad outing vs them is nothing to be ashamed of). Pitched relatively well in Nashville, well against Mizzou 2x and was great in Gainesville.

You seen the ride on that kid’s fastball? IIRC Myers has that spin rate too.

If not Quick today im guessing Blackwood followed by Johnny Bullpen. As long as it isn't Alcock. That poor guy couldn't get Big Al out.

I’m a gambler.

I go Blackwood and Johnny Bullpen today and hope to have Quick and Adams Thursday/Saturday.

Quick wants to pitch. It is his turn in the rotation. I would roll him out for 3-4 innings and see how things go. It is a good opportunity to get another quality win.

Adams has less rest than quick and Quick is simply better than Adams. I would let Zane rest until regionals and see if he can’t get his confidence back. I would not throw him out there against Texas if we beat Tennessee We need him to be good going forward.

We really jumped the shark when it comes to pitch count and the number of rest days in between appearances.

Those dudes from the golden age of baseball are rolling in their graves.

When my son was 10 he was the best pitcher on a shitty little league team. They didn't make the playoffs in their league but their final regular season game was against the best team.

The better team's coach asked my son's coach if he would be willing to forego my son's set pitch count to prepare his team for the playoffs. His coach asked my permission and I said he could pitch the entire game.

He mowed their arse down for 7 innings and by some miracle his team managed to score enough runs to win.

Some dad from the other team didn't know it was my son that pitched the entire game so as we all made our way to the parking lot he started bitching about it to me calling it ridiculous that a pitcher was allowed to throw that many pitches, he was risking injury, etc.

I told him he was my son and that if he has an issue with it he should complain to his son's coach because he was the one who asked for it.

Yes they all threw 86 MPH and didn’t have the strain of a 96 MPH fastball and an 87 MPH slider on their shoulder/elbow.

Tennessee has announced that right hander Marcus Phillips will get the start this afternoon against Alabama.

This is postseason baseball. At some point we are going to need effective innings out of guy who hasn't been great this season.

It happens every year in Hoover and will likely happen with other teams later today.

MSU did the same thing this morning.

Vaughn feels good about hosting and Fin is going to have to pitch at some point this week regardless.

Yep. Let's hope he's right. And like you said, Fin is absolutely going to have to pitch in a regional.
