I would question that, but it would be an interesting thing to research - the “hit rate” of HS pitcher signees. Maybe I’ll dive into that sometime later this summer.
I think colleges (and pros) value metrics and “stuff” over polish.

Yes they do and that is what I mean by polished . The more “ stuff” a guy has, the higher caliber programs will be recruiting him. There are talented players at mid majors because they are late bloomers who develop nicely at mid majors and can compete . Kinda like football , if Bama is getting an OT , I feel like the odds are better if he has Notre Dame, Clemson , FSU. Beside his name , than Sam Houston St. . Doesn’t necessarily mean he won’t be a good player but he didn’t have the “ stuff” initially wanted by recruiters
ETA - The Osterhouse kid was recruited by LSU and UGA out of the portal , so I expect him to compete for a starting spot along with the catcher Lemme who was sought after by many. Not sure about our pitchers . Osterhouse’s dad raved about the presentation Vaughn and staff presented about a plan of development that was better than the other two . Got to make you feel good about that . Just wished we had more $$ to throw at targets

If they are not polished , with command of 3 pitches ( 2for short relief with velocity ) they are not going to see much action

That’s why 95% of the SEC guys are in the portal, which is kind of my point.

I thought your point was they valued “stuff” and metrics more than polish?
Just having fun. They need to be both . Hitters are too good these days. Got to have command to get through an SEC lineup once, much less two or three times . Our portal class is ranked

I wouldn’t read too much into it (yet). He provides updates on lots of former Bama players in various sports. The post right beneath it is for TJ Reeves.

Was one of VT’s main starters in 2024, put up pretty solid numbers, had a UCL injury late that season and missed all of 2025.
