BREAKING: Virginia Tech transfer pitcher Griffin Stieg (@GriffinStieg) revealed that he has committed to Alabama via his Instagram.
Stieg combined to have a 4-2 record in the past two seasons with the Hokies. He held a 5.25 ERA with 14 starts.
In 70.1 innings, Stieg struck out 72 batters and walked 28 batters.
Stieg will have an opportunity to earn a spot in Alabama’s starting rotation in the spring.

Can’t remember signees going to other schools without setting foot on campus . They just release them from NLI/ scholarship ? That wasn’t a thing a few years ago when I was coaching ( it at least never happened to any of my players ) but seems to be happening often now . Glad the players can find a spot this late in the process .

We had one last year (Christian Pritchett/Shelton State) - not sure if he signed or just committed. He didn’t show up on the roster and I couldn’t find anything about him.
I’m guessing this House settlement impacted some of these fall signees (and will continue to do so). I’m always happy to see these guys find a landing spot.

Also removed Zach Kittrell from the “portal out” list (at least for now). Originally saw a post in early June that he was rumored to have entered. Saw a subsequent post that he was not listed in the D1 portal as of July 2nd. I can’t find anything definitive of him entering the portal and his social media still lists Bama Baseball. So back he goes.
