It wasn’t long ago that those seasons would be t-shirt printers for our fanbase. You can’t win a region or the national title every year even when you’ve become an elite program.

I agree. It’s not easy to make it to back to back Final Fours. Lot of luck involved in the Madness. So many good teams fail.

We had a lot go right to make ours last year. We were in the weakest 1 seed’s bracket caught a pretty light path by seeding other than that upset of UNC.

We better hope Nelson is going to be fine.

We look like a tired team. Maybe the extremely insane 30 game competition drained us or perhaps we are not as fit as we should be. We have not done well in back to back tough games.

Not sure about looking tired, but the injuries to Nelson and Sears seemed like they threw a wrench into the game today.

But the insane schedule this year hopefully has them prepared for the tournament and they get some good rest this coming week. Winning the SEC tournament is great, but ultimately meaningless. Would love to have seen a win vs UF, but oh well.

Gosh, that’s so disappointing. Nate, you aren’t the smartest coach in the history of the game and all the coaches that have won NCs used timeouts to stop runs. What stubborn idiotic take from an otherwise good coach, and I hope this doesn’t keep him from ever getting over the hump.

Meh. Come on princess Oats isn't a frickin tard. Nelson was hurt and Cliff got a foul in the first minute and they got blitzed by an elite team. He will have them up for next week.

Not knowing how to use a timeout isn’t a new thing for Oats

I love how this place thinks timeout usage is some superpower they have over our coaches. Saban, the 6x national champ, was subpar to the Rant coaches because he never used timeouts before the half. Now the basketball coach who has not only led us back to the top of the hill, but further, is questioned because he didn't call a useless timeout to tell players the same thing he told them at half-time.

Your post and CNO response to the question shows neither of you understand the reason for a timeout in a 17-2 run. First of all it should never get to 17-2 before calling it but the reason is to stop that team’s momentum, not tell your team something.

Is that advanced timeout knowledge or timeouts 101? And are you suggesting that our High D1 coach, the savant of analytics and planning, the man who has revolutionized basketball at the college level, somehow doesn’t know timeouts 101?

What’s more likely, 1. The accomplished coach, whom blue blood programs want to take from us and 348 D1 programs would take in a heart beat somehow doesn’t know the basics of basketball, or 2. The savant has figured out that the old truism of stopping a run can go the way of the mid-range jumper?

When Oats sees an adjustment that can be made he calls timeout. Otherwise, he expects his players to stay in flow and to make their own adjustments. And be tough. I would suspect that he also was sending a message. “You guys want to play soft? I will leave you out there to get your butts embarrassed!” Dude is hard nosed. He sat Sears for an entire second half to send a message. We struggled a bit in that game, but he didn’t relent.

We got beat yesterday by maybe the best team in the country, and in the second half we did not play tough enough. Let’s, just accept these things like grown men and quit trying to relitigate matters in order to soothe ourselves.

This is all I am going to say on this matter. If some of you want to remain in fetal position rocking back and forth muttering about tactical timeouts, that will be up to you.

He knows shite about timeouts and didnt call one with a 5 second count recently and he admitted that was his mistake.

I don't think oats could of changed the outcome of yesterday's game with any timeout called . He knows Florida is a bad matchup for us, they are longer than us and way more skilled at the 5 than we are. Their guards are long and give sears, Holloway, problems getting clean looks. Plus let's face it they are way more gritty and tougher than us. They play better as a team and don't try as much one on one street ball.

Bama is really good for long periods of time and can beat 99% of teams we play , but teams like Florida, auburn, duke are more efficient than bama right now .

i agree, even though some here may not want to admit it UF got our number this year. Just like we have Kentuckys.

The projected brackets today looks like we wont be seeing them

I agree the outcome would not have changed but to admit he had nothing to tell the team sounds lame when TO's at that point are called to hopefully put a bandaid on the bleeding.
