While I can barely contain my excitement over tomorrow's game; I am feeling a little blue knowing that 1/11 will be the last time that arguably the greatest defense in the history of college football takes the field.
I hope they absolutely fricking wreck shite tomorrow night.

We have no idea what next year's defense will do.

I think folks forget just how good that 2011 defense was. They were statistically superior to this year's defense in most categories. First in the nation in pretty much every category, including total yards per game by ~80 yards (suck it LSU). That defense will be the standard for all defenses to be measured by.

I still hate Georgia Southern for screwing with our rushing yards per game

Having said that, yeah it's always sad to see such good players move on.

I think this one is deeper, faster and more versatile. This defense can stop up tempo spread teams as well as power teams. Both had great leadership. Going into this NC game, I would rather have 2015.

The 2011 team didn't really face the level and diversity of offenses that this team faced though. Might be wrong, but I think SOS favors this year's team quite a bit as well.

2011 faced mostly the same consistent offense the entire year. Besides LSU the only team that was even close to maybe contesting with Alabama was Arkansas, and that didn't turn out well.

Auburn sucked that year, Ole Miss sucked that year (horrifically), Tennessee didn't go to a bowl. Florida lost like 4 straight after we beat them. Miss. St. barely made it to a bowl.

Basically Alabama was the best team in college football, but as a whole the SEC West/East was not very good that year. But yeah overall Alabama flat out dominated most teams.

I think what makes this year D so good is their depth.

Very true. But this year's group has a special place in my heart. After losing the Sugar Bowl (2x) then losing to Oke Miss; folks had Bama dead and buried. This defense pulled together, dug deep and brought this team to Glendale.
