80% of the OL has issues right now and USF was sending blitzes all day that our OC or QB wasn’t accounting for.

That’s why I think you go back to Milroe. Speed rush kills this OL, and with Milroe they can’t speed rush 4 because it will give him running lanes.

They either have to do the Saban mush-rush or leave a spy in the box (committing 5).

That’s why the OL looked even worse yesterday than against a much better Texas front.

I’m not going to pretend like Milroe didn’t make some absolutely horrendous boneheaded throws. Of course he did. But he made some big time plays, too.

Yesterday, we had no boneheaded decisions, but we hardly made any plays, either. It was totally anemic. 107 yards passing is service academy numbers. And that’s against a defensive that gave up 330+ to Western Kentucky and FAMU.

We can’t be so afraid of making mistakes that we don’t make any plays.

This is one of the key points that makes Milroe the guy.

I'm starting to think Saban gave Buchner and Ty open tryouts against a team he knew was very poor defending the pass. Buchner was the worst we have ever seen. Ty was better but we basically leaned on the running game and he made two nice passes.

Those players should have shredded that crappy pass defense.

You’ve lost your damn mind since you’re claiming that you’ve played team sports if you think because the coaches change QBs after a bad game that the players sabotage the others and you’re ok with it. Everyone gets it you’ve got a hard in for Milroe. He had his chance to take control and failed to do it. Perhaps you should watch your hero while he was supporting Ty when he came off the field and learn something.

I don't think they're doing it on purpose and never said that. I'm just saying that some teams jell better under some leaders than others... That's just facts.

Milroe could’ve thrown bombs every play and walked away with a 250 yard stat line, but the issue is he can’t do that against SEC play

I don’t get why the issue is “WKU put up X yards”. The issue is Milroe is the worst option against a defense that will just sit on his first read like Texas.

People are asking for, at worst, a game manager that will put up 200 on simple passes and facilitate a run game. And none of the other QB’s are statues, they’re all super mobile, so Milroe doesn’t have some magic trump card in that department.

If your QB is routinely giving the ball away in the redzone or throwing pick sixes, it doesn’t matter how many yards he’s putting up if they’ve got 14+ point swings from it.

You must not be as old as I am. I still recall Alabama not being able to complete a single forward pass during one homecoming game.

What people are failing to acknowledge is that Jalen Milroe literally threw the ball directly to Texas in the red zone...thank God the guy has NO HANDS.

He should've thrown 3 to 4 picks easily vs Texas

Milroe is our best option IF you have designed runs to keep the defense honest. Texas pinned their ears back and said “we’ll believe you’ll use his legs when we see it.” USF did the same, hell why not when you wouldn’t run the QB built for it in the prior game.If the defense has to account for him as a runner it helps the o-line, the running backs and tends to the hold the safeties just a little longer to give the QB just a bit more room in the pass game. I’m not saying Milroe did not play poorly, but Rees certainly did not set him up for success either.

We’ve beaten this to death but this is true. Milroe is a read slant/go route, run, or handoff guy. That’s it. And all within 1 second. Sure we could have some safety valve play or sneak play with a TE for 1 game where we really need it, but that’s what he is. Either do that or play another guy.

Nick should have Joe Pendry flying into T-town this afternoon to help with this F joke of an OL. After two years of the SOS I think the verdict is on on this OL Coach.

Bama is starting the rebuild for 2024 this Saturday. Not another wasted down playing the QB from ND. He is pathetic with that sidearm delivery.

Good news is this is the last year I have to watch Burton and Brooks play for Bama.

I've been wondering for 3 weeks why Saban hasn't brought in someone like Chris Samuels, Andre Smith or one of the other OG linemen to help with getting through to these younger guys.

"We lost 14 points due to flags"

No, we lost 7 points and then barely dodged a massive interception in the redzone that Burton barely caught off the rebound.

Boggles my fricking mind people give that credit. It was a HORRENDOUS play

We got so lucky on that play and then didn’t even get it.

Wasn’t there another almost pick?

I’ll be honest though Milroe somehow kept us in a game we should have lost by more or won by more. Its a crazy swing you get with him.

At least half a dozen. Another redzone one I remember was 0:06 off DB's hands in the endzone

LINK

He just stares down the receiver and Watts (Texas DB) should've had the pick. Watts doesn't even take his eyes off Milroe and trails it the entire time

I know we all dislike Golding but I think his safeties would have a field day with this tape

When Proctor allowed the Texas DL to tee off on Milroe did he pick him up as well?
He was also giving up protections during the game. Defense knew what to do because of him (mostly).

After watching film, he just doesn’t seem to grasp the schemes at all. He drops protections for seemingly no reason.

74 is a legit liability.

He's a guard who wants to be a LT.

We need to move him to guard so he can maul and use his size inside. He can't handle the speed off the edge.

It's amazing people watching the game see this. Fans see this. The commentary team sees it.

However our coaching staff will trot #74 back out there to get ran past and get our QB wrecked again and again.

Exactly. He’s big enough to make a push, but he’s just not agile enough to keep up with outside blocking

The big problem is we don’t really have great tackles on the roster. A bunch of guys who will only play in the NFL as guards or maybe right tackles.
