Probably late to this but just now seeing the 2025 schedule. Tough schedule. 10-2 should be a playoff lock but that will be a tall order.

Getting sick of the number of teams Alabama consistently plays coming off bye weeks or cupcakes.

Georgia, LSU, Missouri, and Oklahoma all coming off byes. That is half of Bama’a SEC schedule. Then two more teams have an FCS team (Auburn plays Mercer) or FBS cupcake (Vandy plays Utah State). Bama will play only TWO teams coming off an SEC game the week before.

It’s bullshite.

Byrne is asleep at the wheel. Same thing happened this year.

Mal Moore brought this "flaw" up a few years after Saban arrived and the SEC was supposed to put a rule in place about a max # of bye teams one team could face. Believe it was 3 a year, SEC games only.

It appears the rule has been tossed aside by Sankey and our guys have their heads up their asses again.

The BAMA media folks are useless as usual here as well. Even the X sportswriters that cover BAMA are too lazy to post about it.

Two of our losses this year were teams coming off of byes.

Sankey is probably too busy making sure no one can have a bye before Texas

Auburn gets a bye and Mercer.

Basically 3 weeks to prepare for Bama.

Scheduling will always be like this until cfb scheduling is “nationalized” in some fashion similar to what I’ve discussed in other topics. You can’t have this hybrid system where conferences hand schools either/or open dates because the rational decision will be to take the bye nearest to a top opponent. Schools need the entire schedule handed to them by an authority that is making fair schedules.

Would be easier to do with a 64-team, 8-division super league.

Alabama gets a bye before Georgia and LSU and plays Eastern Illinois before Auburn.

Alabama had no business losing to Vandy and OU this year even with them having a bye, same for Missouri and OU next year.

As usual your dumbass misses the entire fricking point with your non sequitur bullshite.

Alabama gets two byes like everyone else. That is not the point.

You do accidentally make another relevant point despite yourself. As usual Alabama’s two bye weeks advantage is completely negated because their opponents are also coming off byes. That’s fine, you should expect around two teams to be coming off byes. But it’s the ADDITIONAL 2-3 SEC teams with byes before Bama on top of that that is the bullshite.

We always get the short end of the stick when it comes to scheduling. It would be nice to have an extra week of rest and prep from our bye week.

We’ve been getting fricked on this for years, this isn’t a new phenomenon.

Until Byrne does something about it, it just is what it is.

For context - 3 teams had byes before us last year, we lost to two of them. South Carolina played ZERO teams coming off a bye. That should never happen if we’re trying to make schedules equitable.

I played catcher and OF when I was at Bama.

I dont play football, but I also dont make ridiculous statements like "we have no business losing to Oklahoma, etc" Entitlement to the outcomes you want when you havent lifted one finger to contribute is insanity. Im a fan that is disappointed sometimes in the outcomes, but I also realize winning is hard. The other teams have good players that want to win too. Sometimes Bama's players dont play well. Sometimes other teams have extraordinary games.

So you don’t actually play football at Bama either and are sitting on the couch watching.

Alabama probably shouldn't have lost to this Oklahoma team but it is bizarre that people think we were playing some sisters of the poor with half their roster hurt instead of a perennial blue blood with plenty of guys who would be on the roster, contributing, or starting here. Alabama didn't show up prepared and got embarrassed by a team with quality coaching and a lot of blue chip athletes.

In my opinion, not respecting your opponent is one of the cardinal sins in competition. I think we paid for that in Norman. Just my opinion though...some may see it differently...

Greg Spankey needs to be fired!

It is one thing to be so naive as to let the committee be filled up with guys from the b10 like freakin AD OF MICHIGAN (and make him their leader).

It's so weak that you let that kangaroo court of fools exclude far better SEC schools because of a stupid win/loss record when everyone else gets away with playing nobody. (not even trying to re-open this can of worms).

And it's straight up lazy to do the same schedules for two years in a row, especially with the mountain of criticism being cast at it since the release show. They purposely screwed Florida, UGA, and Bama and gave ole miss, Texas and Missouri the easiest path imaginable (The byes are just icing on the cake).

Naive, weak and Lazy is not what the SEC needs in a commissioner and I'm not even going to start on how the sec accepted pennies on the dollar for the media rights deal with espn.

Spankey has to go!

Sankey is an empty suit of a commissioner. Was really glad Kirby called him out to his face. Sankey got straight embarrassed by their new playoff format.

Byrne needs to start stepping up to the plate more against the SEC office. Between the scheduling & officiating, we get no favors from the SEC office….and we’re not even asking for favors, we’re asking for just a level playing field.

Everyone wants to look at things in a vacuum. That was senior day for them. That was literally a do or die game for them(and more importantly coaches that want to keep their jobs), they had two weeks to practice a completely different offense that Bama was not expecting them to run. Bama also had their arch rival the next week.

Yeah Bama has better players, and on paper, should have won the game... but shite happens, especially against a team backed up in a corner and fighting for their legacy as seniors and postseason.

It was disappointing, the effort was terrible. A silver lining is the coaches having a game to point back to in future seasons to say "this is what happens when you dont bring it." This program frankly needed a dose of humility...that it really should have gotten in the 2023 Iron Bowl if not for a miracle
