I really think it needs to be $15 million. I know he is a good enough coach to elevate talent, but $15mill looks to be the minimum for top 10 teams next year. If he can elevate 12, what heights could 15 get us?

Would be nice just to go all in for once and give him $20 mil. It's worth a championship run at least.

I agree. At least 15 mil. If Bama wants to win a NC in basketball, it's going to cost $$$$. The good news is players and coaches don't put as much emphasis on the arena or facilities. It's much less costly to increase roster budget vs building a new basketball arena and facilities.

At least there are new practice facilities on the way.

Minimum? I would probably say average cost for most teams.

There's always players who's overpaid on each team. If you can get two players at a discount then you can compete.

Still cheaping out if we are going from $8 million to $12. They should have doubled that and gone to $16 million

We going after this guy? Looks like a great fit:
Boise State's 2025-26 starting center, Drew Fielder, plans to enter the transfer portal following a standout season where he averaged 14.7 PPG and 5.7 RPG. The 6'11" junior, who previously played at Georgetown, was a key scorer for the Broncos, along with primary backup center Dominic Parolin.

Key Boise State Center Developments (2025-26 Season):
Drew Fielder: Led the Broncos in scoring and developed into a strong interior and perimeter threat (38-93 3PT). He scored a career-high 33 points against San Diego State.

Only if he wants to play the 4. They list him at like 215 pounds so he'd get destroyed playing a lot of 5 in the SEC. He has the same body type as Nelson and appears pretty athletic, so he probably could play more of a PF role if he wants to enhance his NBA prospects. This is all based on a look at his statistics and a couple of highlight reels. I've never seen him play.

I just want us to construct a roster around the blue collar stuff. Our best team by far started Bediako, Clowney, Miller, and Bradley, all absolute dawgs on defense and the glass, with only one minus defender on the floor (Sears). 3 of our starting 5 shot less than 31% from 3, with one of them not a threat at all from deep, yet we finished 15th in offensive efficiency per Torvik. The system is going to produce efficient offenses regardless.

We've gotten so caught up in trying to maximize 3-point efficiency that we sign soft players and lose on the margins unless we're shooting well. We need to get back to the mentality of "If we don't shoot the 3 well, we'll beat you in a rock fight. If we do shot the 3 well, we'll beat you by 20+."
