Yeah. We finished 2nd for his other son who was a one and done at Michigan State. I think he and Murphy have known each other for a very long time. Like since childhood.
Just saw his angry tweet at Tipton. Not so much childhood friends, but sounds almost like a decades long older/younger sibling type relationship. If your staff is that close to a recruit's family you don't have to recruit them in the traditional way because they're already comfortable with you.

This is a great get. Amazing athlete with a great pedigree. Seems he is rated low for the talent he has. Holt is top 20 and this guy is top 25? Holt must be off the charts then.
Kudos to Oats and Preston Murphy.
Didn’t Murphy almost get us the No 1 player last year? Dybantsa.

He put in the work but that young man was going to the highest bidder.

I think if we were in the realm of BYU’s offer he’d have come here. But I think the deal was already sealed by the time he moved to Utah in highschool. They weren’t going to get outbid.
I can’t imagine the amount of money it would take for me to go play for a cult.

I wonder how many soakings he's been to this year.

BYU fans on Reddit all claim that the school looks the other way for non-Mormon athletes as long as they're discreet. Not sure why that matters since 90% of the dating pool for a 19 year old in Provo is Mormon and engaged, if not already married.

It’s 45 minutes to SLC and they have a lot of non Mormon counterculture methy types. I don’t know if he prefers the brainwashed or septum piercings but that’s pretty much the choice.

Depending on who we bring back on this years roster…if we bring back Biz, Amari, and Aiden…..next years team has a chance to be special.
I mean we just added a McDonalds AA and didn’t have to go deep into our funds to get him

Allen is probably gone but maybe he can be persuaded like Philon.
Holloway - ??? - Richardson - Jemison - Sherrell is a great 5 and I don't even know if Hannah or Bethea will be around or not at the 2.

Samuels and Bouie are more college ready than Richardson.

Yeah If we add Holt this will be the best recruiting class we have ever had.

Miller, Clowney, Bradley, Griffin is hard to top.

He instantly becomes the most athletic guy on the roster and probably in the SEC. Check out his hops.
Unless Coen Carr comes back at Michigan State he might be the best dunker in CBB next year.

Yeah I mean I know the figure that it’s said he received. It may be easy for me to say not bring in his shoes, but if I was a guaranteed top 5 NBA pick in 1 year and I could make 7 million at BYU or I could make 2 million at Alabama(or any college where I could live a normal college life and have fun and try to win a championship if I wasn’t such a Bama fan) then I’m taking the 2 mil
The extra money isn’t worth the ick I would feel especially if I know I’m about to be a multi multi millionaire soon anyway.

As recruits, this one would be clearly better.
#4 Holt, #27 Richardson, #28 Samuels, #54 Bouie
Vs
#14 Miller, #26 Bradley, #44 Griffen, #78 Clowney
Bouie is still expected to rise a good bit.

I’m just talking about what they actually accomplished. Two 1 and done first round picks, an elite 4 year player, and a very good 4 year player.

My personal opposition to it goes beyond just the social aspects of a school like BYU vs. a secular institution. A lot of athletes just don't really understand or care about the distinction between being paid and being used. There is no secondary motivation beyond winning games and making money for an NBA franchise. BYU athletics however pulls double duty as the sportswashing arm of a religious cult with an all time great PR game. It's certainly not as bad as all the golfers and soccer players who take literal blood money to make the Saudis look good, but the goal for BYU athletics is undeniably to both win games and serve as a promotion of Mormonism. Dybantsa is literally allowing himself to be used by a cult to promote itself through him. frick that.

Yeah I’m with you. LDS had a stance that lasted until 1978 that black people couldnt be members of their church and couldn’t get into heaven.
Not to mention the exploitation of women. Targeting Africa and Pacific Islanders to help spread their bullshite and funnel their pockets(tax free). It’s all very gross.
Can’t wait til Scientology gets a football team. Or the Heavens Gate Fighting Hellbops.

Thinking about next years team, bigs are in short supply it seems to me. We are guard and wing heavy.
Where do we go to get Sherrell some help? The Floridas of the world and just the bigger teams are killing us. I'd have to say the entire front court group we brought in has been very disappointing. this year. We sure miss Grant Nelson. and Cliff Omoruyi.
