Michigan scooping up several of our backups. Sounds like FSU last year…

Yes. Give me a Jacob Hester type back with vision and a hard head.

Woods is a beast. Would be a big get.
Would be a great thing because we need a difference maker on the DL.

James Smith and LT Overton are both very good players. Keenan was good this year too. But I wouldn’t turn down Woods if he indeed wanted to transfer to Alabama. Kelby Collins is a good addition.

Right but I think Woods takes this DL up a considerable notch. Keenan at NT and Woods at DT is a tough pair in the middle of the defense. Woods gotta enter the portal first before getting too hopeful but it would be a big time get for our staff.

If he comes we’ll have both of our prodigal sons back in the fold. Would be nice.

We need to take his coach.

It was me. I downvoted you for this horrible take. Clemson has not done much the last several years, and Dabo is getting left behind. I’d prefer a coach that at least understands the importance of the portal.

This is life.
I say take his coach, meaning Peter Woods position coach who developed him.
You take that as take his head coach Dabo which I and many on this forum detest.
Instead of asking for clarification you attack when the problem is you didn't read what I said well enough and didn't ask for clarification before responding.

I do agree that we haven’t been developing DTs at all lately.
Something is up with our DT progression. It used to be a strong point.

FIFY. Otherwise, it would come across as taking us coach, Dabo, who he was the reason he went to Clemson.

Yep, hence why I said we need to take his coach.
If that guy is developing players we are trying to get maybe we need to take him too.

Are you meaning Dabo or Chris Rumph?

Chris Rumph? He was at Alabama from 2011-2013 as DL coach.

Clemson does that weird thing where they split the DL into 2 coaches, Rumph is only their DE coach. Nick Eason is their DT coach, where Woods should have been playing all year.
Maybe that's the way to go about it, that's just one less assistant elsewhere.
Dan Brooks/Marion Hobby was the foundation of their DL success, Todd Bates/Lemanski Hall coasted on it to varying success(Bates got a DC job and Hall was asked to leave), and Eason/Rumph is the current formulation.
They still get the talent, but I don't think the coaching is as good anymore. Hard to fumble guys like Bryan Bresee and Myles Murphy when they are top 1-15 in the nation.
