If Kool Aid can play defense for b-ball, he may be more valuable on the court

What position does maye play in basketball? I mean those rebounds are nice but he is 6'5. Hard to believe UNC doesn't have someone better on the court for that purpose.

I agree. Let both of them hoop.

Those guys who want to play basketball let them sign but once they get on the court with SEC players and everybody on the squad can play they will leave basketball alone.

McKinstry is being offered scholarships by some power conference programs in basketball. Whether those are independent of his decision to play football at those schools is another question, but if they aren't it doesn't really make much sense as a recruiting tactic. Offer him a spot on the basketball team if he wants it sure, but if he signs a basketball LOI then he counts against both sports' scholarship limits if he plays football too as far as I know.

Three times per week, BOL Daybreak is part of the process for Crimson Tide fans looking to get their day off to an informational and entertaining start.
On a Wednesday edition of Daybreak, we talk about Alabama men's basketball seeing a 15-point lead wither away in a Tuesday night loss to Tennessee; what missed opportunities during an ongoing four-game stretch mean for Nate Oats' team moving forward; and a look at how National Signing Day might unfold for the Crimson Tide football team.

If that is the case, I thought he would count against just the football scholarship. Seems like that has come up when we have had players on both the football and baseball teams.

From what I can tell, ESPN NSD coverage is greatly scaled back-no press release, no conference call with Luginbill.
Most coverage will be on ESPN3 (WatchESPN) starting at 10 AM CST. There will be a show on ESPNU at 2 PM. SEC Press Conferences will be on ESPN+. Bama’s is schedule last at 4 PM CST.
Of course what is on the website and what they show is sometimes subject to change.

It has always been my understanding that if they sign a football scholarship they do not count against the scholarship limits on any other sport they play, but if they sign a scholarship for literally any sport that is not football and join the football team they count against the scholarship limits in both sports.

LINK ]Rules for multi-sport athletes
The NCAA also has rules specifying the sport in which multi-sport athletes are to be counted, with the basic rules being:
Anyone who participates in football is counted in that sport, even if he does not receive financial aid from the football program. An exception exists for players at non-scholarship FCS programs who receive aid in another sport.
Participants in basketball are counted in that sport, unless they also play football.
Participants in men's ice hockey are counted in that sport, unless they also play football or basketball.
Participants in both men's swimming and diving and men's water polo are counted in swimming and diving, unless they count in football or basketball.
Participants in women's (indoor) volleyball are counted in that sport unless they also play basketball.
All other multi-sport athletes are counted in whichever sport the school chooses.
